Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms is MUCH better for edibles.

It has a much more comprehensive species section.

Unfortunately I have only the TMC.. and that is fotocopied also. Why are people so quiet when it comes to tehniques and stuff. I mean at psilocyian species everybody is happy to share his tehnique. :smile: We all share our experiences with no problems. I haven't surf the GMM posts to much, but I think a short growlog for these reishi would be great, and much apreciated. Maybe there are growlogs that I haven't seen.. anyway. Shroom shroom shroom :smile:

Can you give us some details on inoculation and substrate ratio? Did you use spores? Where did you get them from? Thanks in advance.

i'm just waiting to see wat happens. Something is changing at the moment, the white heads almost all turned brown. We'll see if it stops growing or if it will shift into another growth stage.

It's quite interesting to note that they form growth rings. You can read these like the year rings in a tree. Each day a ring of growth is formed.

una , i am currently growing reishi (ganoderma lucidum) on hardwoodchips and they are popping up at different places in an aquarium
when i look at your pics it doesn't look anyway near those pics
mine is for the moment white yellowish but it is still developing so i don't know about the final color of the head
i remember seeing pics at a far eastern site showing mushrooms that look like yours
are there many strains around from reishi maybe ?

i checked it out and found out that there are quite a few strains of ganoderma lucidum , one link gives a more in depth overview of the subspecies that exist of g. lucidum , the subgenus from una is also labeled g.tsugae in china and is called Varnished Conk by (Stamets & Yao 1999)

a genebank calls the g.tsugae also Ganoderma valesiacum Boudier
the genebank can be found at :
http://www.gene.affrc.go.jp it is in japan but the text is in english
so with so many different g.lucidum's around it is no surprise that mine looks very different from una's ,they all seem to have medicinal properties

i am currently working on a wild reishi clone, just inoculated a grain jar today to see if my clone LC is contaminated or not. it looks very healthy, but as we all know, looks can be deceiving. the next two days will show if i have a good culture or not. :smile:

i cant wait. ive been wanting to grow g. lucidum for quite some time.
