And then I go kill a bitch because the flaming orb in the sky told me to do so, and I don't know, oppress a few minorities here and there in the name of nuclear fusion?

1080i is 1080 resloution and it interlaces the frames and 720P is 720res and its progresive scan. 1080P is the best of the best right now

P = all frames change at once
i = every other line of pixils changes simultaneously, with the other line (odd, even) changing ~1/30th of a second later.

the # is the amount of lines of pixils on the screen.

SO:

a 720P TV has 720 rows of pixils, that all change simultaneously.

a 1080i TV has 1080 rows of pixils that change 1/30th of a second after each other.

yah, but they're exponentially more expensive than a 1080i (which is what I have).

the 1/30th of a second is hardly noticable, but if you reeeeeally pay attention in a high-speed situation you can see minor trails. Nobody that has watched my TV other than myself has noticed it though so it doenst bother me.

That makes no sense cause my TV is a 720p 1080i
its not a 1080p but a 1080i 720p
I dont get it
see my tv has the option to be either 720p or 1080i
which should I use?

either is fine

1080i will play 1080 lines on your tv horizontally, odds, then evens, changing about every 30th - 60th of a second.

720p will play 720 lines horizontally, every 30th of a second. That is as easy as it gets.

The best resolution would be the native resolution of the tv, or whatever source you are getting the hd channel from. Some tv's even do automatic switching, mine does at least. If I put it on a 720p channel, it plays 720p. 1080i channel, 1080i, and blu-ray or ps3 games 1080p.

peace

Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see,
and hear.
Since the initial publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum, humans
learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear... is less than one
millionth of reality.
