Hey gang.  I got a bit of cash this christmas, and so now I'm thinking I might update my TV.  Right now I've got a 20" CRT television that suits my needs pretty well.  An upgrade to HD would be nice, as I do a fair amount of gaming, but that's about all I need.  Something in the 20-30" range would be nice, with a nice low price tag to boot.

Anybody have any advice on what to look for and what to avoid?  Where to go?

How risky is getting a refurbished TV?

i got a 40" Vizio and it works fuckign fantastic. Cost about 578 and change?

hooked it up last night using the cord that goes to my monitor and the audio cable that comes with LCD computer screens and watched movies on ninjavideo.net. it siiick. also, my friend bought Left 4 Dead 2 and that looks great on it, along with Planet Earth that my mother picked up for me a few days ago (last xmas gift cause she didnt know anything i wanted before xmas :crazy2:)

we also have a 37" Vizio we just got for the downstairs which also works fantastically.

I would recommend the Vizio for sure.
but thats all i have experience with. i would assume that Sony is the best though.

last years black friday I bought my Westinghouse 32" 720p for 345.  I went to best buy and it's still more expensive a year later.

I only buy electronics on black friday now.

Don't get an HDTV get A computer monitor with HDMI. Its cheaper you can play 360 and ps3. For watching TV all you need is a Comcast router with an hdmi port for example. I just got an hp w2408h "rebranded" AKA the famous maker it only coast me $200 the price has gone up but it was a really good deal. Its something to think about.
