are cake wells needed?

ok im going to be doing my first ever cakes next week and im just wondering if i should put wells in them or not?

Just fruit your cakes and leave the "experimentation" until your next crop. Get the hang of what yer doing and then expand upon it. Just my two cents.

do PF cake tek by the book the first time. then change one thing, like using a core or well in the center of the cake, change only one thing. make up a few cakes to which the change is not made, so that you can see the results of what you have done.

keep teks that give you good results, discard the others until maybe another day.

The well in the centre of the cake is inferior to dunking (search for it on the forums) or placing the cake directly on wet perlite post flush to revitalize it.
