this cake was made by mixing the flour and verm, then putting in jars, then adding water (bad move, but I screwed up) The mycelium is taking by the way.

yeah you should have mixed the substrate before you put it in the jar. No-wonder you can't see any verm at the bottom, all of the flour has setlled there:P

if you are using a perlite terrarium, maybe you could birth the cake, cut off the uncolonized substrate, and place the cake directly on the wet perlite. the cake will soak up a lot of moisture that way.

but then again, if the mycelium is still growing then maybe you just be patient and hang in there until it has definitely stopped colonizing.

Is there only one jar in this condition or do you have more?you cannot birth now - it will contaminate as there is no mycelium. you cannot dunk as there is no mycelium. are there holes in the jar lids? do you have a syringe? if you do innoculate about 10-15 ccs of water into the cake through a hole (this syringe and water should be sterilized for 40 mins). do this carefully, cleanly and quickly. otherwise wait and see what the mycelium will do, take about 3 cakes from the jars discard any major uncolonized clumps and toss em into a ziploc, break it up gently into small clumps and leave the bag for 3 days to recover, then case what you have and place in terrarium. and keep your fingers crossed sandman!

mycelium is starting to cover the bottom at this time - I'll wait it out - already have one 100% cake cased in verm.

Thanks
