I realize that this question has frequented this group quite often, but I have some pinning going on - actually they're much bigger than just pins, but my cake seems to be drying out at a rapid pace. What is the best way to rehydrate this cake and keep these babies growing to adulthood? I have my temps at 77 - 80 and humidity in the mid 80's to mid 90's. My terrarium is sealed, I do at least 4 - 5 air exchanges daily, and it gets about 9 hours of indirect light through the window. I have a perlite base in the bottom which seems to maintain the humidity well. What am I doin' wrong here? Would anyone recommend the straw TEK? What's the most effective way to rehydrate? Thanks gang! Have a good week

Make less air exchanges, when you do it there's a lot of humidity going out, even if you then up the humidity level the cakes do not have enough time to absorve it. Go for only two air exchanges and see if it's helping.

Yes, the straw tek works fine. You could also use a syring to inject water into the cake. Another way is to set the cake directly on your perlite layer. I've used all these methods successfully.

the most effective way to rehydrate cakes is to dunk them, as per the dunk tek posted at the link below. we have many photos and success stories to share about dunking, come check it out.
