gee, I'm just full of questions lately.
I've got some cakes that are really really dry. The mushrooms have been growing for nine days and already there's that crispy blueness on the mycellium indicating their dryness (I made sure it wasn't contamination). There's some mushrooms on these cakes that are about two days away from harvesting. I was wondering if you can dunk cakes with big mushrooms without hurting them.

Just a followup question to his, thats kind of on the same level... Can misting cakes that have mushrooms growing on them, cause damage to either the cake or muchroom? Im just asking because if so, I wanna make sure to use more of a sprits bottle for my terarium, so as not to hit the cakes/mushrooms when misting.
Thanks

From what I've read misting the cakes directly is bad for them and can hurt them. The water droplets are too big even the smallest mist feature is too big. Mushrooms pull water out of the air in the growth chamber so just mist the walls.

Pluck those shrooms and then dunk. If your mycelium is turning blue, there is not likely to be enough water to finidh the development of those fruits anyway. -OR- do like Anno has suggested and put a moist verm layer on those cake to re-hydrate them...then, pluck and dunk. Light misting directly onto your cakes is not going to hurt them...just don't over do it.

first, start out by trying to maintain the humidity in your growth chamber higher than it currently is. Cakes drying out can really really slow you down. Now that you have fixed the humidity gives your little friends a boost. My recomendation would be to inject pure water or water that has had hay boiled in it directly into the cakes. as long as you stay sterile this should help your cakes a great deal and may make huge improvements to your next flush.

you can dunk cakes with shrooms attached, just take care not to break them all off in the process.
