? on dunking cakes

i've heard about using peroxide with the h2o for dunking cakes. How much per 1/2 pint should I use? And how much peroxide should I add to the perlite? Should I add peroxide to the water in a cool mist also?

I would use just plain water from the tap.

It doesn't matter how much you use for the perlite, it all breaks down in a couple of days anyway, but I add it to the water when I mist. I use a 1:8 peroxide to water mix. I would use a more diluted mix for dunking your cakes. Say 1:12

I don't use any peroxide at all when dunking. I dunk in sealed jars with no holes. The chlorine levels in ordinary tap water are enough to ward off any contams in the short time that the cake is dunked. With the jar sealed the chlorine cannot evaporate and remains active.
Really there are no contam worries with dunking anyway as long as the cake isn't already contamed and you pat it dry after dunking.
