Pinning on Dunked Cakes
    #1128966 - 12/10/02 02:57 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Heres the story: I have 3 jars in my fruiting chamber right now. One of them I let incubate an extra 3 days after full colonization instead of the normal week and dunked it for 12 hours. Exactly 2 weeks ago I birthed it. About 11 days ago, I birthed another 2 cakes right when they were fully colonized without dunking. Now, one of the cakes that wasn't dunked has pins and the other undunked one and the dunked on don't have any pins. Does dunking cause the fruiting to slow down but produce more yield?

I'd say you got the idea. The mycelium just needs to recover.

I do, however, notice primordia on all of the cakes. I actually see one tiny pin on the dunked cake. But not enough to measure up to the other cake.

The mycelium just needs time to absorb the water and recover, then you'll probably get some nice big fruits. Just consider it an expiriment and compare the size/quantity of a normal cake vs. dunked.
