Wheat straw question ?

Hello,

I do not have access to wheat straw. However the horse dung I want to use has cedar shavings all through it. I want to grow PESA and GT and PR on it. Is there any know problem with using the cedar shavings? Is it nesc. to have wheat straw?

Hey my friend who uses horse dung also has to take it from a huge pile that they coat in what looks like wood shavings, it still works great but he was also wondering if it has a negative affect, but it doesn't *seem* to so go ahead and use it. No it's not necessary to have wheat straw.

Are you sure it's cedar? Stamets doesn't recomed cedar or other aromatic woods. Allergic reaction when eating fruit and poor colonization are problems. Never experienced it myself, and I've used dung with what appeared to be aspen. I'd stay away from cedar just cause stamets said to though.
