In an analogy from the tantric teachings, your life begins as a frozen drop of water in a large glacier on the highest mountain range on earth; where you will remain with the rest of humanity - having a fixed name, face, thoughts, ideas and place in society - from the cradle to the grave.
Occasionally, however, when a mind begins to rest in itself - intentionally or NOT - and receives sufficient 'illumination', it begins to melt. This phase change - from solid to liquid - is known as the 'first satori', and it is the beginning of the descent down the mountain range.

A whole lot of people dump their shit into the Ganges. It is not sanitary for swimming even.

A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Well, that settles that! Let's stay up top, dump all our drugs down the toilet and become Young Republicans.

Or better still - make up something that the poster did not write nor intend and then get furious at your own projection.
Is that a spiritual practice?

That's a pretty thought. Have you read the book, "Baba," by Rampuri?

No, I haven't. Any particular thoughts come to mind which you would care to share?

at dinner last night my good friend started reading poetry, we had already been drinking and eating for 3 or 4 hours, why not.
I found the way he read and enjoyed the poems much more appealing than the content of the poems.
he wrapped his mind and voice into the poet's words describing death and a hawk and other things I would have preferred not to think about.
I mention this because the first post in this thread deals with a metaphor that is palatable to some, accurate to others, and impossible to accept for yet another class of reader.
It sends me back to last night, and I feel camaraderie to 2sky as I did to my good friend with the poems.
if I join in, it is to say, I looked as saw you seeing.

It has poignant scenes about the sacredness of the Ganges, in a way similar to what you have written. I don't quite want to spoil them, and also they somehow go to the point of the entire book, something about water being life, or goodness. Something like that.
