Hey gang,
Not many people know this so i figured id attempt to get the word out! If you cant find dessicant, cant afford it etc. you can just get some epsom salt!
You have to bake it in the over at 400 degrees F for 45 mins and it works great! I just read that on another thread and called up my friend to try it, he said it works well....
Spread the word Fd

Thanks for the great idea! I've been fan-drying and using a low heat from my computer monitor to crisp them up, but I like this epsom salt thing--easy to find, too!

Why not just buy some silica gel in the form of cat litter?
Here?s what the stuff looks like. Should be in any store.

Ingredients...

Peace.

Rock salt, road salt, pickling salt & epson salt all work. Hell, they used to mummify peaple with salt. I bet peaple are hard to get cracker dry , but they managed, so it works. Just bake a bunch & use as a drying agent after putting a fan to the crop for a day. Simple as that. SixTango

lowe's has damp rid in a convienent little container for $3, and you can get a 45lb bag of silica drying compound at advanced auto parts for $5, but whatever works for you.

Man, what the hell is wrong with my lowes and home depot over here. I searched and searched both stores and found no type of dessicant at all. I even asked some people there and they had no idea what the hell I was talking about. I even tried walmart, k-mart, and targe(all in the detergent sections) and still cant find the shit. I read that walgreens is suppose to have it but I havent checked there yet.

I went to the paint sections, car sections, sports sectoin and nobody had it or knew what it was.
I went to a pet store as well and couldnt find silica cyrstals....
Epsom salt works great so why pay more? Fd

Perhaps because it?s desiccant and NOT dessicant....

I had great luck with finding desiccant here, but that is a good idea about the Epson sault, I actually got it for a school project, but I had to buy a big bottle, and thought the rest would go to waste, but I guess not !

IT'S NOT CALLED DECCICANT!!!!I almost missed it myself, at lowe's. it was on the bottom rack, across from the mops, and had just been stocked. they may have just started carrying it. this was last week. I was still able to find 45 LBS!!! of COLOR INDICATING silica floor dry FOR $4.99!!! Turns blue when it's spent. said right on the bag. too bad i don't need 45lbs of the stuff. it seemed pretty safe too. it advised it be used as charcoal grill liner as an alternate use. And the cat liter kind anyway. It's out there, you just can't find it.

I just found this out the other day myself, here is a thread that demonstrates how epsom or rock salt works!! I think Im going to give it a try since its cheap and reusable: oops waked and baked and forgot the link: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=401952&page=&view=&sb=&o=&fpart=1&vc=1 Also I was just at WALLY WORLD last night and saw damp rid, they keep it in the detergent section at the store i was at.....

Desiccant, deccicant, dessicant whatever the fuck you wanna call it(i call it calcium chloride ) i cant find it here!
Epsom salt is cheaper, easyer to find and works just as good as calcium chloride.
Well for those who cant find calcium chloride epsom salt is a life saver, it saves you from haveing to use any heat(black shirt tek).

I'm suprised they don't have dessicant since you live in such a humid climate. Go figure. Like someone said earlier they might not know what the hell you're talking about. Ask for brand names or "stuff that absorbs moisture" or something like that. I went to Home Depot yesterday and bought a 3 lb container of Damp-Rid for about $3. I got everything I need other than the spores at Wal-Mart and Home Depot.
