Epsom salt doesn't work for shit

i baked me some 100% epsom salt for 70 minutes... it turned into one solid block i broke it up into pieces with a hammer... placed it on the bottom of one of those ziplock containers about an 1 inch and a half worth, then above that i have a screen i made by poking tons of holes outta a pie baking tin thing... i have about 8 shrooms on the screen that fan dried for about 10 hours, they were not cracker dry at this point they were still somewhat wet, but they were beging to shrivel showing they were dried... well they sat in the drying chamber over night and i noticed some blackness on the edge of all the shrooms... and they are not dried anymore than when they were put in. could i have placed them in to early? not enough epsom salt? or any ideas... now they are not completely rotten, just the outline of them is black... can i still eat?

well u only need to move em to a desicant chamber after they are significantly dry say 24-48 hours fan dried? if not it'll pull water in middle to outside and won't soakup that much water.

epsom salts do work now just make sure the mush is close to cracker dry before u put em in the chamber to get full cracker dry. epsom salt does work as a desicant though.

he is trying to tell you that you should have fan dried them first...before you put them in with the Epsom salt.
they were too wet!

That is why I use a food dehydrator...working with fans and desicant is a pain in the ass!

I would suggest fan them for 24 hours, fliping them over at 12. Epsom salt works fine in this manner.

Yup always fan or leave in room with good air exchange FOR ATLEAST 24 hours.

fuck that. Fan dry them for 48 hrs, I've never done anything else other then fan dry them.

Well, I was about to start a new post sayin how great regular salt (dunno wut Epson is) is. After dryin for about 24 hr, I put in the bottom of a bag and pour salt over the top, if I'm startin w/ a new batch. But I've been continuously adding to my baggie of dried shrooms and salt as I get new ones grown. They seem to dry and store nicley in salt. BTW, salt is a preseravative! I plan on keepin them in there till ready to ingest. I guess the only draw back is that they would taste salty, but I plan on capsulating them so I don't have to worry bout that. I don't know how it tastes yet. I'll let u know if this gets bumped by the time I ingest.

Eat the salty shrooms, this would be nice to know. BIg bag of salt and shrooms to store it and give it intresting flavor. errrr does any of the good stuff get sucked into the salt? :confused: :smirk:

Thank god/ess there is someone else out there with enough sense to use a food dehydrator.

Even low setting in a oven with the door open would be a better tek than the stupid and HUGELY polluting shit people are using for dessicants..... :confused:

if you were to put a bunch of mushies in a jar, and cover them in salt, then the salt would extract the moisture, and a good amount of the chemicals from the mushies.  the salt might even turn a slight blue color :ooo:

none of mine are blue, and soon, probably this Friday, I will find out how potent they are.

upupup, the reason I dont' use the dehydrator that I already have is because I don't like the thought of loosing any potentcy w/ what little bit of shrooms I DO have. I can't massivley produce for security reasons, but I am happy w/ what I have, but I don't want to take away from that by using heat to dry them. If my method works for me, I'll use it. Just don't bump it b4 u try it.

well... i realized i just placed them in the drying chamber too early, after fan drying them for about 12 hours they become almost completely dry, so i then placed them back into the drying chamber with the epsom salt and about 24 hours later.... Cracker dry shrooms!... yayy it does work
