Anyone with experience drying using Epsom salts?

A friends friend, harvested some personal and tried using the info that she found when searching for drying techs using Epsom salts.

Epsom salts was spread on cookie sheet and baked for about a half hour, some caking did appear. Then she let cool for a short bit and placed inside a large bowl with a small basket inside and placed the prize inside basket then saran wrapped.

Using store bought desicant had these things drying out very very quickly but store bought is alot more expensive.

After checking the bowl (24 hours later), the prize still seems the same.


Did she not do the tech right or is this gonna take longer? I understand not matter what, its gonna take longer than 24 hours, though seen much more improvement at 24 hours with store bought than Epsom. The other desicant pulled the initial moisture out very quickly.

Any thoughts? Do any of you use Epsom Salts?

Get some Damp-rid from Lowes! It's pretty cheap. About $3 US for a half gallon!

You have to bake Epsom salt till it's really dry! Break it up a few times while baking. It should look white and dry. Break it up as much as possible before putting it in the chamber! "It has to be really dry"!!
