3 Questions..please answer

1. I am testing my setup before i put the cakes in. I am using perlite in a large plastic contanier. I am using a digital hydro/temp and my rH is staying at 99%. Will this work or is it to much humidity?

2. It gets kinda hot in my apartment for like 5 hours each day. If needed is there anyways that i can lower the temp in my setup? Also, i read somewhere that you can use the frozen ice pack things. Would that work? also well something like ice lower the rh?

3. I am so ready to see some mushrooms. One of my jars is 99.5% complete. It should be done by tommorrow. I know i should wait a few days, I probably will but could i birth it if i want? Also would it hurt to open the jars to let them get some air?

I am growing PESA, if it matters, on BRF/verm 1/2 pints jars.

Howdy, I don't have the answers to your questions, but I got a dumb one to ask so I figured I would add it to this thread. I got 8 - 1/2pint jars with Verm/BRF substrate. 4 jars have been innoculated with EQ, and the other 4 with PR. What would be an adequate temperature to keep the jars at for the mycelium to develop? Currently they are kept at a High of 84F and a low of 72F. Thank you to anyone that can help, I couldn't find this info anywhere.

I usually keep mine anywhere from 83 to 86. I think 85 to 86 is the best temp to keep them.. ......i think

If you're just planning on fruiting cakes you'll want to keep the rh between 95-100%. Lower for casings...

Regarding heat/temp...don't worry about it if it's only going to fluctuate a few degrees for a few hours...temps fluctuate all over the world "in nature" and the shrooms grow just fine. You may have to spray if the inside of the terrarium or the outside of the cakes are too dry from excessive dry heat though...but with the perlite in the bottom you should be fine. Just learn to watch your terarrium closely.

At least wait 2-3 days extra from 100% colonization. Birthing them sooner won't make them grow faster...this is not a hobby of forcing Nature to bend to our wishes...it's simply allowing Nature to do her thing in the best conditions we can provide her.

Sorry to burst your bubble too...but you're still a good 2 weeks away from seeing any shrooms...so just hang in there and do it right...it'll pay off in the long run.

I can only answer #3 since i do not use a hygrometer, but yes you should wait at least 2 days before you case it. sorry, man, i'm not as advanced as some others in this forum.

Sick: for cubensis mycellium you want to keep the jars around 84-86 F while incubating...and when you go to case/fruit you want the temps to ideally be between 74-78 F.

They'll still colonize in cooler temps...just will move slower.
