questions from making the jars to .....

ok ... AFOAF has lot's of questiuons ... it's it's first time ...so thanks for the help {=o)

K ... AFOAF is using half pint jars ... And the pftek ...( Brf and verm)
1.) Does it matter if afoaf drill the holes in the lid with the rubber seal facing down??
2.)Would Using ground up verm work better ??
3.)is it ok to pressure cook jars on top of each others??
4.)What kind of fish heater do most of you guys use ?? i had one but was afraid to stick the whole thing in water .
5.)afoaf afoaf is using a sheet metal box for a incubater... i'm worried that after a long time it will start to rust .. he
6.)afoaf has been keeping his jars at 70-80 in the incubator ...with a low humdity ... cause of a broken heater {=o).. all jars have shown good progress ... some are almost done ... the was made on 4-19 how long do you wait to move them to the terruim after they have turned all white ...
7.) i got some little brown spots here and there in some jars .. it looks like were it was wet the most ... is it ok ??
8.) Whats the best way to scrape spores of aluim foil ... afoaf had troubles scraping it into the spore spreader
9.) Is there anywhere on the shroomery that tells you the different types of spieces and affects??

2. no, stick to what comes in the bag. grinding vermiculite could be hazardous to your health. it is available in fine medium and coarse grades
3. yes
4. i use a heating pad under my incubator, aquarium heaters are made for the water
5. possibly, swicth to a rubbermaid container
6. give em a couple days (2-5) after 100% colonization
7. little brown spots are invitro pinning, yellow-to-light brown blotches can be mycelium pee or simply water stains
8. depends, if making syringes i use the sterilized water in my syringe s a jet stream, if innoculating from a print a sterilized knife tip works well
9. in all honesty i do not believe there is, try a search, but if you cannot find it here you can usually get info from vendors sites on the strains & growth parameters for each. as for affects, none of us would know cause we grow for scientific purposes

cool, i thought i was the only one to do this. if its printed on foil, i just crease it and spray with water out of the syringe. 3 or 4 times, and you got em all. its a lot less of a bitch than scraping them off. so far ( knock on wood ) i have got no contams

afoaf got some fine verm ...
afoaf got some chumpy verm ...
Now afoaf and the afoaf got together and mixed both of them up .. but they put the fine stuff on as the top and used the clumpy in the mix with brf

don't you just wish everyone used foil for prints? easy to sterilize, makes nice prints, and the spores are easy to get off the foil. why wouldn't you use foil?

afoaf made some tc's syringes this week using a spore speader .... follow the tek ... just wondering how long do most of you wait after putting boiling water in there and drain it and add the spore prints ?? i waited about ten mins .. Afoaf that is doing the pf tek using verm and brf has seen some growth from the tc's already after three days

i'm sorry bob...i am confused. are you saying that ten minutes after boiling the water you added your spores?
