AHH - Black Liqud Coming out of Dehydrating Caps + Stems?
    #7715535 - 12/04/07 01:53 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Hey, there
First successful (Maybe?) grow

Heres what I did:

1. Pluck Shrooms off of cake after fully grown. There was NO colored mold on any of the caps.
2. I did not have a food dehydrator so I immediately freezer bagged 5 mushrooms and froze them.
3. 24 hours later, I bought a food dehydrator that heats to about 140F to dry mushrooms

For some reason there is BLACK (all most indigo) liquid dripping from my mushrooms. If I run my finger along the stem, the black rubs off the stem onto my finger (when they were wet).

Now they are dry and shriveled and black.

Can anyone help me?

You are not supposed to freeze wet mushrooms. Only freeze mushrooms that are bone dry. You should have put them in the refrigerator if they were wet.

:pm: me if you have questions about lasers

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

too funny, cant freeze them.
They are probably still good, at least to make some tea out of.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
