caps turning black

i got a B+ casing with fully grown shrooms and some of their caps are turning black on the top. is this a sign that they're rotting or something? most of the shrooms have their veil broken because i wanted to take some prints. only some of them have the black spots on the top, but it seems to be spreading.
this morning i saw huge black spots on the vermiculite that wasn't there last night. after closer inspection, it turned out to be a deep purple color.. hehe, some of the shrooms dropped their spores over night. it's my first time with spores and it scared the hell out of me, i thought it was a contamination. althought i don't think any contam could completely invade my casing in just 12 hrs like that.
anyway, the caps on some of the shroom are in fact black and have nothing to do with the spores. i'm wondering if they're still good to dry and eat? also, is it a problem to have all those spores sitting on my casing?

The spores are microscopic and are therfore extremely light. So any spores dropped will float all over the place, naturally ending up on your caps.

yes. in a environment in which the air is more still they have more of tendency to drop straight down so that a cap above can leave a curved "spore shadow" on the caps below.

But if the mushrooms stop growing and their caps start to turn black that means that they are abhorts and should be picked as soon as possible. I have feeling though in your case that they aren't abhorts but spores.
