I have read this too many times to count. I find it both hilarious and ironic.

Some poster gets angry at their projection of another and somehow fails to realize that the source of the anger comes from their own ego, not the ego of another.

Actually try to grok this before yet another reflexive posting.

Well for the record, you don't make me all that angry anymore.

It is a bit frustrating whenever I put forth a lot of effort into offering information to shed light on a mystery and you and others come a long and dismiss it all off hand.

But if you see my responses I take it all rather well, imo.

I don't see many others reacting to you in anger either.

Maybe it's you who is projecting...

When someone starts a post, PM or rating with the words, "You make me so angry..." I do not see how it could be my projection.

Projection always starts from fear. When a person is fearful they are bound to make something in their mind and then distance themselves from it. This distance is a way of disowning what they thought they made. They then assume they are not responsible for what they made. After suppressing the knowledge that they made it, they see it as seperate from them selves, and seeing the seperratness they assume its only purpose is to attack them. Thinking this, they justify it to themselves which leads to them believe that they are being attacked by something other then themselves, AND the attack is justified.

When they feel an attack is justified they naturally are fearful of the attack and counterattack, and this leads to anger.

Naturally, to neatralize this tendancy one just has to realize that the mind can not be harmed. Realizing this the mind does not project because it is not fearful.

It's not really any sense of superiority that pisses people off, it's your fanatical (not to mention antagonistic) devotion to your own opinions that you attempt to disguise as rationality.

Good question, I try to avoid actually getting angry at people I meet online. I like arguing, though, which is probably why I'm on this forum and why I'm responding to this thread. :laugh:

The same thing applies to the people you meet on "real life".
Getting angry serves no purpose. It's an inheritance that we have to rid.

I think getting angry at people is healthy sometimes, and is a necessary way to vent social disappointments and frustrations. Provided it stays that way.

Hatred against people, on the other hand, is what I truly find detestable. It's such a waste of emotional energy, when it's so easy to choose love. :heart:

I don't know, I'm inclined to believe that anger is not healthy at all. Every time I feel it, it only makes things worse and my mind becomes blurry and unable to find the best way out.
You can still feel a state of discomfort without getting emotionally involved, and therefore no more anger. This way you are able to use your mind at it's best and look for the optimum settlements.

It is quite human to become angry when our invested beliefs are challenged and we have trouble defending them rationally. This creates a cognitive dissonance which humans try to always avoid as it stirs death anxiety. We need to be sure of that which we believe and the more our beliefs support our self-important delusions that more angry and defensive we become when they are challenged. By the way, in my experience of myself and others, everyone does this at times. Some much more than others.

I'm inclined to believe that anger is not healthy at all.

I would argue that all emotions have a place in us for a reason and can either be healthy or unhealthy. Anger could be beneficial in survival situations for instance. It brings up rage that brings up energy reserves that can be useful in getting the most out of our human fighting abilities.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that neurotically-motivated anger is unhealthy? If reacting suddenly and with great energy makes the difference between life and death, then anger would be both healthy and useful as a response. However, few situations in which we choose to become angry involve life-or-death conflicts. In these situations, reacting suddenly and with great energy is unhealthy and useless, and often makes a difficult situation worse.

That's when you get the tennis racket out and smack the bed. Anger comes up even at times it's inappropriate., for most of us. It's good to find a safe way to release it.:mrt:

Actually, current research has found that expressing anger is more harmful than merely allowing it to run its' course and dissipate, as it inevitably will when we cease to "feed" it.  Our cardiovascular system is negatively impacted by expressions of anger, even if we only express it by beating a mattress.  :shrug:

The key is to neither repress nor express, but rather shift focus and stop feeding the fire.  All emotions will fade without attention and fuel.

Then why, last night, when I called an argument you made, "Bullshit"... did you respond by telling me I must be, "So full of myself"?

I don't have to be tactful, to remain within the rules. I know, "Bullshit" is a loaded word.

BUT...

My comment was about your argument in that bullshit POST... your response was about ME... and totally against the rules of this forum, BTW.

I debunked your flawed point with opinion and fact.

You called me a name, in return.

Don't worry, I'll live... and I will continue to argue my points without needing to personally attack you in return.

Is any assessment of someone else's personality or motivation always a projection of one's own ego?  You've made some rather nasty comments about my personality via PM.  Can I assume that those are also projections of your own ego?  Personally, I don't get angry at your large ego anymore.  I just find it amusing.  Sometimes I think P&S might as well be called The Swami Show™.  You obviously relish the spotlight, and apparently have some need to be the center of attention.  That in itself is not necessarily a bad thing(though it can get annoying sometimes).  But frankly, I don't think it's merely projection to detect some condescension in your posts, especially when you make up derogatory terms like "the fluffy crowd" or "mystic-heads."  You do seem to have a sense of the superiority of your belief system(BS) over that of others.  That is not a judgment.  That is an observation.

However, while I do not think I am merely projecting this onto you, I do recognize that all these traits make up my shadow(in the Jungian sense), and thus rather than get mad at you, I try to forgive these things within myself.  That makes it easier to forgive the same traits in others.  I forgive you. :hug:
