Found Evidence Contrary To What Mjshroomer Says
    #763106 - 07/20/02 06:59 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

Hi Mj, I found a mushroom identification field guide on erowid.org called 'Teonanacatl ' which states that specimens of P. foenisecii that were collected in Washington & Oregon and tested proved to be absent of the presence of psilocybin and/or psilocin, however eastern specimens were potent. I'd be curious to hear your response regarding this matter.

Go to his site...read the pages on foenescii..and you will see what he is talking about. I think he even lists thatfinding there as well.

Cheers

RIP Matt, your friendship and your contributions to the world of fungi will be missed. Unfortunately we never got to hunt together.

He has talked about this many times, the reason that they say foenisecii contains psilocybin/cin is because of a misidentifcation. They be wrong.

Hi Frank n' Furter,

Regarding the Pn. foenisecii mushrooms, they are not psychoactive.

S for your comments about the east coast collections, it was both Gary Menser (author of Hallucinogenic and Poisonous Mushrooms) and David Arora (author of Mushrooms Dymistified and All that the Rain Promises and More) both used that statement in their books based on conversations with individuals who had no mycological knowledge and only reported heresay from others. You can read my paper on Panaeolina foenisecii at http://mjshroomer.yage.net/articles.htm

and have a shroomy day.
