I can't think of an easier way to write prescriptions for mind-altering drugs.

In a few states they can (NM bieng one of them). As time goes on more and more states may allow psychologists to write prescriptions.

NM psychologists have to complete a hospital residency program, and must be supervised by a physician for two years after beginning to prescribe. If other states adopt this practice, they will set similar requirements for psychology programs.

You're thinking of psychiatrists: They're the ones that write prescriptions.

i wanna do psychiatry. if you are going for it, good luck, its a lot of work so far and im still only in college. got about 2 more years of college, then 4 years of med school, then residency for 4 years. i think psychology is a little less time, but still probably a lot of work.

Modern psychiatry is pretty fucked up for the most part. I know lots of kids that are walking zombies from all the prescription meds they take.
15 different kinds of mind-altering pills a day is not the answer to your imbalances.

will you be able to overcome the temptation to use your own prescriptions after investing all that time and money?
(maybe this is a non-issue, I don't know)

Yes. Sometimes I think old fashioned valium or something would be more practical.

haha so funny you say that, one of the main reasons im going into psychiatry is because i think the modern psychiatric system is FUCKED and i wanna try however i can to change it. i wanna incorporate psychology into my practice as well as medicine. humans are pretty complex creatures a happy pill can not actually SOLVE one's problems. but some people are so far out there, that pills can bring them down to a place where dialouge can solve the rest of their problems.
as to using my own prescriptions nuff said.

Many people with good intentions probably have to sell out when they get into the marketplace. It's not like everyone can have their own practice.
Maybe even the insurance companies dictate what practices can be used?

You do know what happens to physicians who write their own prescriptions, don't you?
