that last line has always struck. Every so often, I bump "Lets take it to the stage" and the last line always sticks with me.

It is kind of like the line from 13 conversations about one thing where one girl says "These rich people, they aint gotta worry bout nuthin", and the other girl says "well, they gotta worry about losing all that money".

Are you truly free if you have to constantly stave off attacks upon your freedom?
on any level, personal, social, political, religious.... what good is freedom if you spend all your time ensuring that you have it.

Free from the need to be free. That is absolute freedom... everything else is paddling just enough to keep your head above water.

My bedroom has always been a monks quarters. Usually a mattress in the corner, nothing on the walls, no tv.... basically a space with a bed. Growing up, my parents had a difficult time punishing me. I spent a lot of time in my room reading, and they werent going to take books away from me.
I had no television to take away, and I really couldnt be banished to some other end of the house because they figured if I was content in my room, I could be content anywhere.
Maybe it would be a different story if my parents had taken my books away and locked me in a closet, but I hope you see where I am going with this.
At some point, any oppressor would have to ultimately restrict/curtail their own amount of freedom to enforce their suppression upon you.

Like it says in fight club, when your obsessed with obtaining possessions, the possessions own you. It would be the same with trying to control someone else, in trying to control them you stop living your own life and it becomes all about them, so in a sense, their life controls yours.

no, but how is there a way to attain this freedom from desiring freedom? if one is able to recognize this freedom from worry or desire, would they not immediately be subject to it again?
