a couple questions
    #755229 - 07/18/02 04:16 AM (22 years, 7 months ago)

ok, say some one had a huge pile of lawn clippings and raked leaves in their woods that has accumulated over several years, its about 9ft by 9ft, and 5ft high... the stuff near the bottom is pretty much compost, the stuff on top is just brown dead stuff, which he would probably knock off. do you think if some one mixed some cow poo into a large hole a foot or so deep into the pile, it would be a good medium for them to grow on? could they get food from this composted grass/leaf? it seem the mycellia could totally permeate this hole thing, and maybe feed off some of the composted stuff.. it would be the worlds biggest casing!! and it seems the mycellia could expand so much that it would be a nice way to make shrooms part of the natural flora of my yard
i just wonder if theres is all kinds of funky molds and stuff in it that might mess things up...also one corner of it is a giant grass ant hill ( i stepped on it and like a hundred ants came out and went flying up my leg), would they burrow thru and destroy the mycellia? or would it deter them?

It`s risky, but it should work if you choose the right strain.
And the ant problem can be solved by torching theyr home.
