a couple questions

ok so we are on day 3 and my south africran are already begginin to grow myc.

so here is the questions.

while in incubator is humidity ok?  cause its drippin wet in there :smile:

do i check on them everyday or is this more likely to produce contams?

and finally when do i shake them up?

Why is the humidity so high? If its not changing the moisture content of your jars it wont be a problem...but i woudlnt imagine its a good thing.

damn well the humdity is so high because my set up
as follows

big non see through rubber container
about an inch of water
fish tank heater heatin water
jars are in solo plastic cups with baggies over them not lettin air come down on them or water inside them
then there is a lid on top so heat stays in with a small opening for air exchange


what should i do to make it better?

are u using a fish tank heater? if yes u can tie a plastic bag around the container of water its heating, or somehow cover it cause humdity is beter then being dry but if ur jars are untaped or moisture could get inside u might get problems.

If ur using grain u shouldve shaken already, if its pf then dont shake

they are untaped but like i said the cups have ziplock bags over them un done so that air can exchange but nothin can fall into the cups

i thought it was an amazing idea but i cuold be wrong because im new :smile:

sorry i was posting when u answered last, uh..i wouldnt let the water accumulate...1. cause it may get stale and contamed 2. excess humdity could cause waterlogged substrate and will prob lead to failure. you could IMO periodically dry the container
