I bought a sticker a couple weeks ago at a festival...
    #7365543 -

It reads

JESUS LOVES ME
but Buddha gives me his time to see me through my full development.

something along the lines of that.

I like it. gonna put it on my scooter

and goes against none of them

eh

that's kinda weak for a bumper sticker

how about

"Jesus was rad, but Buddha was really chill".

This is not quite philosophical or spiritual. :shake:

I don't need Christ or Buddha to live a life of total freedom... in fact your images of Christ and Buddha bind you and keep you from being free. Stickers like that are funny or whatever but in truth it's just a silly game when you compare two philosophies that shackle your mind.

Umm no, anything can shackle the mind, it is not the philosophies that shackle but the people who shackle themselves. In fact Buddhism is meant to be used to 'free' one from limiting shackles hence the path of 'liberation'.

Good one.

I saw one that said "Jesus is my Insurance" and "6X6X6: Lumber of the Beast" on the same car.

These religious philosophies are the belief systems that you subscribe to in order to 'free' yourself. Think about it, why do you think Monks follow the same type of chanting, the same type of sitting positions, wear the same clothes, etc. etc.... it's a method. You can sit in the Lotus position, chanting "ohm" in a temple on top a mountain for years and years... and that's what people do... but they are not free or liberated at all. Truth is a pathless land, and when you choose to follow and idolize a spiritual authority such as Buddha, your mind is already bound to that philosophy and what the end result should be; you stop thinking for yourself (to put it bluntly).

You don't really have to idolize the Buddha to make use of his discoveries. I agree that buying the whole package is being programmed but the land to "truth" is not pathless IMO; others have gone before and laid a trail, but for each of us that trail has to be walked and verified buy ourselves and because we are all a little different we will walk the path in our unique way.
