Just buy the jars mail order... there is another topic in this forum with a link and also there is somebody selling jars in GENERAL QUESTIONS..

If ordering online were an option I would have already. I don't live in the states, and such things are unavailable here. On top of that, I'd be worried about them even arriving, the mail here is horrible.

Do a search for 'spawn bags' or maybe just 'bags' and you'll see some other ideas besides Hip's for using bags.

My experience has been that bags aren't easy to get working. It'd probably be easiest to use the half pints if you can get the cakes out, just until the others are in stock.

you can use jars that are not wide mouth just use bird seed and shake out when colonised and case

Birdseed? I'm open to anything. What sort of birdseed should I use, and at which ratios? I have a few kilos of the brown rice flour already, so I'll probably try both methods. I'll be sure to post the results using the oven bags.
