I think I could be able to pull something like this off for my first attempt at growing. The way I see it, do one grow and have mushies for a while with less of a chance of getting busted for cultivation.
Has anyone tried this? What are your thoughts on it? Is this the easiest/least expensive bulk technique for a beginner to try? I've spent months reading up on mush cultivation and I know I can skip the simple PF Tek. Would you recommend throwing the trash bags that are full of substrate into a home made incubator to speed up the growth of the mycelium?
I'm so psyched to finally grow or atleast make an attempt. We rarely if ever get mushies in this part of the country and I would being doing a huge favor to my friends and I, I cant wait to see the looks on their faces when I give them a bunch of free mushy goodness.

I did some massive searching on this last night. The consensus seems to be that the oven bags are a BAD IDEA. They are porous and will let contams through, ruining your bags. Hippy himself even regrets posting about it... says it's a major waste of time.
Do what I'm going to do and just order some spawn bags. They're really not that expensive (around $1 each).

They have Spawn bags now? Jesus christ, I never knew there were so many options when growing shrooms. Decisions, Decisions....

I tried this tek once.... I wasted a syringe, a bag of BRF and vermiculite. No contams... just no growth. Just my experience tho

bringing the thread, back from the dead.
hey all, uhh, i saw this and i was a bit disapointed. i was planning on using hippys bulk BRF tek to start a nice out door patch this spring.
having no PC, it was nice to see the PF recipe could be bulk.
is the idea really as hopeless as it sounds, maybe take extra precautions to be sure no contams are allowed to grow?
i would love to hear some good news about this tek.
