Oven Bag+BRF+Verm?

This question has been pulled back and forth when concerning a PC.
I want to know if BRF+Verm will be properly sterilized when steamed over a boiling pot for 1 hour (tight lid)
Thank you.

Will steaming for an hour adequately sterilize a substrate in the absence of a pressure cooker. Very probably. You could always try it and wait a few days before innoculating. If the substrate isn't contaminated after being allowed to sit for a couple of days, then it was probably sterilized enough.
Otherwise, discard contents and try again, with a longer steaming time. Or check your local thrift stores for cheap pressure cookers. I use mine to make perfect steamed rice... for human consumption.

dont sweat it. It works..I've used the boil technique since day one..until grains of course. Basicly what I did is use a stainless steel..'flower' steamer..it opens like a flower..mainly for steaming veggies etc. I open that shit up drop it in my large pot..fill water until you see it begin to touch the bottom of the flower steamer (you can also just use a CLEAN washcloth for the bottom.) Bring the water to a boil..reduce heat until a low boil is achieved. Throw your jars in there..as many as it will fit. Put your lid on and set your timer to 1h30min. I usually check on mine everyonce and awhile making sure theres plenty of water in there. Add more if needed..Your jars will be done within the time. When the times up I usually kill the heat and leave the jars in the pot until it cools down..then just put the jars somewhere to cool off for the night or whatever.
Also remember to cover with foil if possible to keep water from dripping off the lid.
This is brief..dont have much time..theres plenty on here about it..A simple PC that will get u by is $20 but theres nothing wrong with boiling when it comes to BRF.
oh and btw..I've NEVER had a contam'd jar so just goes to show...grains are a diff story. good luck and hopefully you can have some first time success:) A tight lid isn't really necessary in this case..steam will escape regardless.

Are you using an oven bag? I have heard nothin but bad things about those bad boys....If you want to grow in a bag try a ziploc.....Sterilize your substrate in a jar like normal ...Then using a glove box make a transfer from jar to ziploc.....Dont worry the insides of ziploc's are sterile ....If you are really paranoid you can put the ziploc in the glove box before your wipe down and just drench it in lysol....let it dry and walla sterile equipment...... Dont use those gay sandwich bags ....use the giant freezer type.... But if you dont wanna do all that work just use jars....Like i said previously oven bags have been giving people nothing but greif
