appreciating impermanance
    #7359252 - 09/01/07 04:20 PM (16 years, 7 months ago)

When you realize the impermanence of everything you can gain a full appreciation for everything. Tonight won't be this morning, tomorrow not today, and yesterday is forever finished. Knowing things will change, externally and internally, allows you to fully absorb every aspect of the present moment and to take nothing for granted. You may walk down the same street but you will never walk upon the same path.

When anything that's anything becomes nothing, that's everything, and nothing is the only thing you ever seem to have. - Man Man

I wish this had been more like your old posts.

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”
