casing problems
    #730593 - 07/08/02 04:45 AM (22 years, 11 months ago)

AFOAF has been having problems with contamanation in his casings for a couple of months. He has tried casing 4 different strains and everytime the casing develops a contamanation that kinda looks like cobweb mold at first, then starts to grow thick and cottony, ending with a big green mess! He has tried using different casing material (verm. and coco coir and just straight verm.)with the same results. He has also tried to pasturize the casing material by putting it into a mycobag and microwaving it for 10 min. on high, but he STILL ended up with this contamanation!
Does anybody know what this mystery contamanation is ? (Sorry I don't have a picture. )And does anybody have any suggestions? Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated !

I got cobweb mold on my first casing. Cobweb mold really attacks the top layer of your casing. I cut mine open and checked out the inside....no contams. This leads me to believe that the contams are from air being drawn in, whether its from fanning or a humidifier. I was using a coolmist humidifier. So, now I throw some H2O2 in there with the water. Hopefully this will help.
