Casing problem

My friend is very close to harvesting 2 cases. Unfortunately the PF style cakes were cased in transparent throw-away Ziplock containers wrapped w/ aluminum foil. The foil must have spread away from the outside of the container and light must have gotten down the side, b/c now there are abhorts growing on the sides.

My friend read that these abhorts will die, decompose and be a source of contamination. Any ideas about how to get around this problem? All the other cakes failed after the 1st flush, so these cases are pretty important.

Let them grow. They won't necessarily abhort.

Your friend is correct if they are left to die and rot. The trick is to pick the aborts before they do rot. When you see that they are not growing noticeably and the heads are turning sorta blackish this is the time to pull em up. Save em they are just as potent if not MORE than the shrooms by weight.
