    #728796 - 07/07/02 09:01 AM (22 years, 2 months ago)

i purchased ten media pockets (cd cases thin of course) made of tyvek for 50 cents at wal-mart. I just want someone to guarntee that they will breath for me i tried breathing through it.. but that doesn't much work. so.. i was just curious if it will always be breathable or what. says they repel moisture.. so.. i don't know

I almost passed out wearing a full tyvek suit. It prevented chemical vapors from entering but didnt breath AT ALL.

anno suggested and used it though..
so it should breath.. shouldn't it..
it appeared that even moisture escaped though when compared to filterdisks

I use Tyvek since Anno's suggestion and it works! There are (at least) two types of Tyvek and I use Tyvek soft which is thiner.
If you take a look at Stamets GGMM you will see that the filters he uses let trough so little gases that the bags remain inflated.

thanks for the bump anno..
i've read all that..
i was just curious if someone came across a sample of tyvek that won't breath.. i don't want to suffocate my mushrooms.. i guess the only way to tell is by a sample.. but it breathes obviously on yours because it let out some moisture. guess i could always wrap one end around a vacum cleaner or something and try cleaning with it.. i don't konw

your tyvek looks softer then mine.. where did you get yours from/purpose. thank you

I buy mine in a hardware/building suppy store. It's used as breathable isolation for roofs.
It's really hard to blow trough it and it seems imposible to blow trough the thicker one.
