Inherent dangers of VERMICULITE use.

OK. So we all know Terence McKenna ate shrooms his whole life.
We also know he died from brain cancer.
Now a while back, there was a stint in the news about vermiculite from some site in the US contaminated with Asbestos.

And we, at least some of us, do know that Asbestos causes cancer..

But how many of us know that ALL Vermiculite deposits
are found above and ONLY above strata of asbestos in the earth's crust.
That is to say, vermiculite and asbestos are very closely related in natural deposits. You don't get one without the other.

All I'm saying is that I am *never* EVER going to use vermiculite for any type of REZ tek.

You decide if you want to get brain cancer just coz you use vermiculite in your shrooms.

I may be wrong, however it is fact that vermiculite deposits are only found at sites where asbestos is...

Well Mr. scientist, can you show me your studies where you have proven that vermiculite causes brain tumors??

McKenna only ate shrooms from PF cakes? :confused:

My mom just died of brain cancer, and she never ate verm as far as I know... I mean some verm may contain asbestos, but I don't think it's that huge of a problem...

What "shit" on the news are you talking about?
Do you have a link where I can read the story, I'd actually like to look into this before jumping to drastic conclusions. Most of the teks here use MOSTLY vermiculite, and when you live in small cities like mine, things like Straw and saw dust aren't cheap and sometimes hard to find.

I really want read that story though, link please?

if this was a scientific experiment, it would be fail. You have to have alot more evidence than he did X and that caused Y without any definite correlation.

You are wrong, and it isn't a fact. In addition, the danger with asbestos is from inhaling dust from the fibers over a long time, such as working in a mine 8 hours a day for 20 years.

It isn't from eating mushrooms from a cake with vermiculite in it, even if it DID have asbestos, which it doesn't.
