A completion of a 25,000 year cycle has more significance than a monthly one.

By that logic, the specific location the sun will be in at 3pm tomorrow morning with respect to its 250 million year cycle around the galaxy is more significant than the one coming in 2012.

After all, the last time the sun was in that position in its cycle around the galaxy was a quarter billion years ago. That's way more special than some puny 20,000 year cycle eh? And since the universe is five billion years old, it's only happened 20 times since the universe came to be. Very rare, so it must be very special... by your reasoning.

I'm going to have a t-shirt made up to commemorate the once in a lifetime even! :yesnod:

The proof is whatever we two and the arbiter agree is something that can be accurately judged.

Propose something: name one thing you think will happen in 2012 that will clearly decide the bet. Surely you can come up with SOMETHING, no?

I mean, I've heard such conclusively verifiable nonsense as that the Shuman Resonance Frequency of the Earth will increase by an order of magnitude. I've been told that a giant "photon band" (whatever the hell that is) will envelope the Earth. I've even been told that people will begin to up and vanish right before everyone's eyes.
