Yeah I do. I'll start another thread.

What if..

those indians were making a calendar, and they run out of...whatever they were using to write, and then by the time they go enough of it to continue, calendars were no longer in (people started buying wooden wall hanging owls)

and then some time later an civilisation came that went to the moon, and found (not on moon, on earth) the old unfinished calendar, but since all the wooden owls decomposed they had NO IDEA why was the calendar unfinished. And then some of them believe that in 2012 the world will end. 2012 comes, nothing happens, and then on of the believers (who is by the way cleaner at the local nuclear silos)
launches the warheads so that he doesn't look like a fool in front of his peers because the world didn't end

then out of the ashes, a couple of indians rise all dusty and radioactive, and decide to opet a bussines making calendars..

personally..i very much doubt whether anyhting will happen specifically on that date...it is..however..a midpoint date for certain models of oil depletion..which means that the feces will reach the blowerage within few years before or after this date (more likely before..IMNSHO)...and nor is this event any more cosmic than a hummer either...

Probablu nothing much will happen. I suspect they ended at that date because they already had a calendar for the next few centuries, and just stopped working on it...

Important thread? One that requires no thought, no change, no growth, but some postponement for taking action and instead substitutes dreaming about the future for seven more years?

The Mayans ended the calendar on 2012 because they thought that by 2012 someone would have updated the calendar.

Quote:

Icelander said:

Well in the 70s we all though the youth movement of drugs, sex and rock and roll, environmental awareness, the summer of love, would change the whole country, stop the wars, and we would all live in big communes as one big loving family, ect, ect.

So this generation was the first ever generation to even come up with such ideas, its the first ever major movement to demand for world peace and unification. This was like a first step in that direction. You introduced new spores in this world, and you started growing it. But people thought things would go real quick, when really it takes time for such notions to integrate everyone's mind.

I understand that when you see things in this perspective, you want things to change NOW. But you have to be patient, and not say that if it didn't happen back then, then it can't ever happen. Your generation started this, and its up to the new generation to accomplish it. It may seem like it takes for ever, but IMO all of this is going relatively fast. Things are accelerating. LOTS of things can happen in a period of 7 years.

And you said that back then, there were predictions that change would happen at a specific date. can you give an example?

Maybe in 7000 years or 7,000,000. In 7 years not enough to notice, if the human past is any indication.

Oh, I don't want things to change NOW!  Things are fine and right on schedule.
