Few Questions from a starter

I'm new and have been reading a lot, I've ordered a lot through the sponsors for the Shroomery here... and looking forward to getting started.  Will being using PF Tek with BRF/Verm.

I read that using a digital wireless hygrometer isn't as good as the old style.    I ordered this Honeywell TM005X Wireless Thermo-Hygrometer Was wondering if anyone else has used this style and or had any problems.

I also ordered 8 oz. Quilted Jelly Jars, and was wondering if these were the right jars to start off with?  I know need 1/2 pint wide mouth canning jars but was unable to find any that actually said 1/2 pint wide mouth, all that stated that were Pint Jars.

Also ordered The Chitwan, Nepal spore syringe but wasn't able to find anything in the Strain Thread regarding this, does anyone have any more information regarding this strand?

Also, has anyone ever had luck with EarthsTounge.com? I originally tried to order from there, they processed payment, but I have received any emails or anything from them.  I then went to Sporeworks.com and they have promptly let me know what was going on.

Two thumbs up for them.

Sorry that was long, but thanks any info on those jars and or hygrometer would be appreciated.

Yes, you do a good job. Sometimes Hygrometers are not accurate, you dont actually need one of those. Jars should be wider on the top then on the bottom. And: I am also a great fan of sporeworks. Spores from Ecuador are first choice for novice growers because they are very easy to grow and the upcoming voyage is something you will never forget.

Stick with sponsors here; it's not just being grateful for ad dollars that sustain this site, but they all post here, and are accountable to the entire community. It's great protection, and they're all consistent vendors.

Those jars are fine. All we mean by "wide-mouth" are that the jars do not taper at the top. That way you can slide your cake into the terrarium with no problem.

Those jars look like they'll work to me. As far as hygrometers go, i have a couple snazy cheapy ones from home depot (5.00 a piece) that work out nicely (well except one that i dropped a few times and now it reads 5 percent low on the humidity. but easy to compensate for

Goddamnit, LVL12, where did you find those? I went down to Home Depot yesterday and had to pass on my hydrometer, as I was was only picking up a hundred bucks or so of stuff, and they were charging $30 at minimum.

Wrong side of that labyrinthine place, I assume. I checked the garden section.

Oddly enough, they were with the barbeques. which is near gardening, I was actually looking to see if they vermiculite (which they didn't) and on the way out i started checking out barbeque tools, and my girlfriend actually spotted them, basically went like this - garden section leads to outdoor/bbq section bbq section leads to wall of utensils for bbqing, at the end of the wall were weird sorts of rain catching devices, outside tempurature gauges and whatnot, then a small selection of therm/hygro ranging from 119.00 down to 5.00

Don't put a lot of faith in that POS $5 hygrometer from Home Depot . Have you even salt tested it? I tried one of the $89 hygrometers from Home Depot . Guess what ? That's right , just a more expensive POS . Lasted a week .:thumbdown:

yes, after the dropped one started reading differently. (I used to collect cigars) Its accurate according to test. You can also adjust most Hygrometers, perhaps thats what you need to do with your 90.00 POS.

If you wanna go all nasa on everyone and get something thats accurate the the .00000000000001 degree... More power to you, but seriously, your not going to have massive crop failure if its a degree or too off. Ballpark for $5.00 IMO is better than More accurate than i need for $199.00

HC any brand you particularly recommend?

I'm kind've with LVL here...I really just want to throw it in my greenhouse to confirm that I'm achieving around 90+. The conditions are static enough it need not be more than +/- 5 points.

LVL, I'll check :/ I found the rack you were talking about yesterday, though...no dice in my city.
