Susceptibility to shin splints

Not a big problem here, more of an annoyance.

I can not run even every other day without getting shin splints...it's like every 2 or 3 days is the most I can go. I really enjoy it and it is one of my main ways of relaxing, and I wish I could go more often.

Is there anyway I can prevent this? I stretch before and after and have pretty good running shoes. I suppose I could get a running teacher to see if it is related to my stride.

maybe try some liniment? i don't really know, I'm guessing.

I get them on occassion. I think it is because I have absolutely no arch in my foot. But that article gives tips and reasoning on how to prevent it.

Im not even completly sure what I get is considered shin splints... but I get an incredibly sharp pain when I crouch down or kneel for a day or so every once in a while.

yeah I'm being plagued by shin splints this running season.

last season it was bruised heels, which ultimately made me cut my jogging season short. So I bought heel gel inserts and wore them over the winter, fixed my heels up good.

But now I'm getting the shin splints like mad as well. I can only run twice a week now.
So I've taken up biking which is lots of fun as well as excellent for cardio :laugh:

I think rest is the best option.
