The 'studies' that the FDA got the information from that kava can lead to liver damage was a completely unsubstantiated and inappropriate scientific evidence based on 24 people.

Dr. P. A. Cox, director of Hawaii’s National Tropical Garden, commented: “The indigenous people of the Pacific have used kava much longer and more frequently than anyone in Europe and America, and if there is a liver threat then they should be suffering from it. I have never heard of a single case of liver toxicity caused by kava in nearly three decades of familiarity with it.”

Sometimes opiates tend to keep some people awake. Which seems counter intuitive to the idea of the poppy bringing sleep. And in fact the opium poppy was often called  the sleep inducing poppy, and sometimes still is :smile:

But Oxy, is not opium.

Personally, herbal teas, especially a blend like Lemon Balm, Skullcap, Valerian root, and peppermint have always worked wonders for me. When I was younger I ended up going to a sleep specialist my insomnia was so bad. He wanted me to buy a special light to sit in front off in the morning which makes my body set it's clock by mimicking what the sun does. While this does work great for many people, I've found strong indica based cannabis, and herbal teas, like the one I've mentioned to be the best solutions for me personally.

And I don't buy those little itty bitty bad mixes. No no. I go to the herb shop and pick up big bags of fresh herbs and make my own tea blends. With a coffee filter, strainer, and mason jar. I love tea :yesnod:

What works for me wont work for everyone, but cannabis itself has been proven to be great for insomnia. And a small amount of pot, and a strong herbal tea mix like the one I described above. Work wonders for me.

(P.S. don't confuse your body, if you are worried you might not get to sleep read for a few hours before bed. Staring at that light from the movie, even in the dark, could be part of your problem)

And damn. I just noticed the mention of Kava Kava. I can't believe I didn't mention it. I love Kava Kava. And it has also been of great use to me.
It's just often pretty expensive. If anyone knows of a cheap high quality source I would be very grateful.

That's the way to do it :thumbup:

and indeed.. Valerian can be amazing for a restless mind and body
Though I probably wouldn't mix it with Kava

hey thanks for the tips.
cannabis has always been the perfect medication, anti-depressant, and sleep aid when available. unfortunately right now i can't afford anything good.
i usually read before bed, i am physically active and in shape, i don't consume lots of alcohol or other drugs, so this insomnia thing is really a head fuck.
i'll have to get some tea, that's a great idea. much of it is caffeinated though, i've made that mistake in the past.

A good herbal tea might do just the trick.. you may even find some with kava kava in it
