In my meager experience, the best bet with the ultrasonic humidifier is to air out the chamber by fanning it with the lid several times a day, and just re-humidify the chamber after each time. I find that my coolers stay humidified for a long time after just a short run-time with the humidifier. This will give you good gas exchange and good humidity.
