HELP: Arrested with shrooms - update

I posted awhile back about my being arrested with shrooms. I was fucking scared and needed advice and some people here helped me out a good bit. I just was sentenced a few days ago so I thought I'd relay my story to the community so if this happens to anyone else they're not so clueless like me. This is also a warning about the nightmare you can bring upon yourself by engaging in this little hobby of ours. So be really fucking careful out there.
A little history. I was visiting my friend at his college in Indiana for the weekend. I brought 1/4 oz shrooms, a little nug of weed, and a joint roller with me in my car (in the glove box). We go out to the bars. My next memory is being behind the wheel of my car with cop lights flashing behind me. So I get thrown in jail, they search the car (legally cause I was DUI) find all the shit. As a bonus I was pulled over within 1000 feet of a day care center, making all the drug charges increase in severity. I get charged with poss. sch 1, poss. marijuana, and poss. paraphenalia (and DUI). 3 Felonies. I could get 21 years in jail. My lawyer plea bargains it down to 1 C felony and 2 misdemeanors. Now the max is 3 years jail. I have a completely clean record before this incident, just graduated college with good grades, and am set to go to professional school (i leave in 2 days now). I plead guilty. I get sentenced to 3 years probation. At the end of the 3 years, if I'm good, I can go back and argue to get the C felony turned into a misdemeanor (and they'll grant it). So in the end I came out really fucking lucky. I got a good judge and a good lawyer and the planets aligned.
This was by far the scariest thing thats ever happed to me in my entire life. I thought I'd completely fucked up my life and ruined my hopes for my career (veterinarian). I don't even want to think about what would've happend if they found out I was growing the shit. I hate to say this, because i love shrooms, but it wasn't worth it to have to go through all this for the last 6 months, wondering if I was going to jail, for shrooms. So be REALLY CAREFUL with your shit, don't get wasted around your drugs (cause I would've never done anything like this sober - I was really careful when I didn't drink), and get a good lawyer if you do get caught.
And thanks to anyone who gave me advice when I really needed it...

Yea but your on probation for 3 years, you cant smoke dank or eat shrooms. You should of just skipped town you could be getten high right now think about it. The onyl way out now is suicide.

P.S. ate 3 gel tabs 2 hours ago, they were real.

Yea...it was pretty nightmarish, especially for a upper-middle class white guy who went to private school and had NEVER been in trouble before. Waking up in jail with the murders in the next cell over pounding on the glass between our cells, not knowing what the fuck was going on, not knowing when I would be able to get out, knowing I'd have to call my parents and tell them I was charged with a couple felonies, posting $500 bail, with cuts on my wrists cause the handcuffs were too tight...and that was the first 12 hours of the shitstorm I've been in for the last 6 months. SO...be smart with your shit, guys. And maybe even reconsider if what you're doing is worth the price it could cost you...seriously, think about it. Granted, there is a low risk you'll get caught growing, but if you do...dear god. Jailtime for SURE, and lots of it. I would gnaw off my fucking hand before I'd go back to jail. And I thought I was tough...
Oh and I had to do a drug rehab program. I've been completely clean since the arrest and I'm not a fiend for the stuff so that went well. Had to goto a couple AA meetings, thats about it. They were pretty interesting to tell you the truth. Gave me another perspective on the whole drug thing. You get to see the people who really fucked up their lives with this stuff that we're having fun with.

I bet you live on the States, your system is fucking paranoid with drugs. Anyway, my conclusion is that THEY are everywhere over there, bet THEY are reading this post. Now they want to brainwash you with AA stuff ? Not in my homeland, FUCKING NEVER, c'mon man, don't submit your self that easy, i know you learned something from this sad incident but life should go on, learn this lesson and erase the facts, i've learned some lessons also, now i USE the system rather than punching it.

DUI is driving under the influence? alcohol i take it?

Stating the obvious nmow, but that is a very stupid thing todo at any time, let alone when you have drugs in thecar.

i got friends who lost license because of drink driving, drove there car into a tree, into there garage, throught there garden fence.

not worth it, not only are you dangering yourself, which if you are drinking and driving i have no cares for you, but it is the innocent ppl you get run over which makes drink driving even more fuckign stupid.

What woudl you feel like if you woke in the morning found 'red paint' on your car and the papers are reporting a hit and run.

just be glad you not in prision, are alive and not on trial for murder.

I agree. Drinking and driving at any time and ESPECIALLY when you have drugs on you is beyond stupid. Sorry Sidd, but it's your own fault I cannot pity you. I drink myself...but I NEVER go driving when intoxicated...it's just common sense to me. With the exception of Mary Jane I make sure and never drive under the influence of anything. Don't blame the poor shrooms or Mary Jane on your experience with The Law. Blame yourself for drinking and driving. I assume the pigs had a reason to pull you over such as weaving...eratic driving ..etc. caused by your drinking. This also gave them probable cause to search your car and yourself. If they hadn't found you drunk they would have had no probable cause to search and you could have denied them from searching. Now your stuck with piss tests and the brainwashing techniques of rehab for 3 years. Deal with it and be smarter in the future.

I agree with the past few posts. Never drink and drive. If you do anyway, for god's sake, never have drugs where cops can search without a warrant.

Why is it that the drugs were in the glove box and not the trunk anyway? Didn't you know that is one of the first places cops check?

You got really lucky for the amount of intelligence that showed.

haha bluemeanie, same thing happened to me, dumbass redneck cops, hehehe gotta love em when you get caught with weird drugs. opium is another one they dont know what it is. haha:) heres a suggestion guys, next time you go out partying with shrooms in your car, get a half pint jar, fill it with FINELY powdered shrooms and pour honey in, so the honey mixes in and disguises that theres a lot of powder in it, then make a sticker to the effect of "mamas homemade honey" or some shit, and a receipt for the honey, and put it in a bag on the floor or on the backseat.

^^^ that's a damn good idea. Being a person here that cultivates shrooms I think I need to back down a while, I'm glad this was posted as I feel soemtimes I'm not as respectful with this shit. I'm only 20 and I could definately do without getting busted for such bullshit. I think when I get home I'll put all my shit away neater. I hate renting.

Nothing personal, but you sound like a dumb ass. You deserve what you got. Next time perhaps you'll think twice before putting other people's lives at risk by driving under the influence of poison (err.. alcohol). To top that feat of stupidity off you were carrying illegal substances with you at the same time. You're a genius man!

In all honesty, you might consider not using drugs anymore. You are apparently not intelligent enough to handle them responsibly.

As for this person who got probation for his crimes against society, haha
Yeah the big mistake was in thinking you can drive around fuckedup and your not going to get pulled over. Take some advice for the next 3yrs "Stay outta bars and clubs". You do not want to get violated and some probation officers would just love to violate a rich whiteboy who they think got a slap on the ass. Good luck its not going to be easy I know I just finished a 5yr felony probation last year.

Damn dude you musta got busted in the wrong state. Around here if you get caught with less than four oz of pot, you get a fine. And maybe a few days in jail. Shrooms I dunno, but for only a 1/4oz i'm sure it's not too severe.
A buddy of mine was busted with 3oz of pot, and DUI, and all he had was a $400 fine, and 2 days in jail.

I couldn't agree with you guys more about the DUI thing. I NEVER thought I'd drive drunk, let alone with a car filled with drugs. I hadn't driven drunk EVER before this incident. I was always the person taking peoples keys and bitching at my friends for driving stoned. That might give you some idea of how drunk I was that night. I don't remember getting in the car, and I can't imagine where I was going as I was in a town that I wasn't familiar with. Shit, I don't remember going to the 3rd or the 4th bar or coming home and deciding that driving my drug laden car to god knows where was the sensible thing to do. I blew a .2 BAC 3 or 4 hours after being arrested. So...I was super fucking retarded to do what I did, but I'm using the "temporary alcohol insanity" excuse to partially explain my actions. Since that incident I've given up having more than 4 drinks at a sitting, as waking up after a serious bender having done heinous shit is not the type of experience I want to repeat. I'm actually glad the cops pulled me over because I really could've killed myself and others. Better to wake up to cop lights than to a body on my hood or not waking up at all. Oh - the person before me at my pretrial hearing was charged with vehicular homocide while DUI.

Drink driving is a shit, and it really is a bad thing simply because you endanger everyne.. as for anyone to crap on about you being caught with illegal substances, i think its ridiculous for people on these forums to get 'highbrow' about this while adding posts about growing psilocybe mushrooms that are illegal in most states of the USA - my advice is to move to a more liberal country.

I didn't bother reading all the posts but I thought you might be interested in my story. This past year I was living in the dorms at my college where I was growing my shrooms. Well a couple months ago I invited some of my friends from home up to party. I had a little bit of shrooms and my casings had just stopped flushing. I had started a new batch of jars but they were a ways from being ready. The day they got up there the talked me into giving them my shrooms that I had been planning on saving for someone else. Well, the next night the cops raided my place cause we were smoking ALOT of weed and someone complained. The fucking cops searched my room against my permission and found everything. They arrested me and called in some lab specialist to check out what all my shit was. When he couldn't figure out what it was, they took it all(plus about $40 of alcahol and 3/4 oz. of weed) and let me go with a minor in possession, poss. of weed, and contributing to a minor(cause one of my friends was 17). I guess that Im damn lucky that I let my friends eat my shrooms. And, to top it off they dropped the charges, damn Im lucky. Thought you would like to hear another story of extreme luck. :) Peace.

i recently moved and had to let one of my buddies babysit all my fruiting casings.. well he had a party and the cops rolled up. well they found them and some weed a few bongs etc... it was about 3 am and the cops just told him to go and turn in the shrooms himself to the police station and he would be in no trouble... they were too lazy..... when he took them in all the cops were wondering what the fuck the "dirt pies" were... all they did was incinerate casings... i count my lucky stars now..... SCARY.........

I was a tad luckier..
I had a very, VERY small party... neighbours complained about the volume... we were doing some shrooms... cop showed up, kinda nice cop... asked us to turn the music down, if we were doing anything bad, we said no... He told us not to smoke weed in the apt, it's illegal and easy to detect, would get us evicted, so it would be more than a legal issue... he left... and came back 2 hours later, when his shift was done, regular clothes. Knocked on the door and said "I'd really like it if I could try some of them pizza toppings you guys were eatting... I know you have some, and it's in your best interest at this point to offer me some. WOuldn't be hospitable if you didn't offer all your guests the same things."

Turned out to be a cool guy, but... DAMN, nearly wet my pants when he came around the first time, nearly shit myself the second time out of uniform... Thought it was a bust...

That's pretty tight DV! I once had a neighbor call the po-po on us for smoking weed in my garage (the door was open cuz it was summer and it got hot) But any ways the sheriff showed up 30 min later in his uniform and we told him that we were just smoking cigs. N e ways the fucked up part is when he came home from work changed and WALKED over to my house! He just lives down the street and asked if we had a bag to sell. Some fucked up shit but now when i need alcohol (i'm 19 and look 15) i just call him up and hook him up with a fat bag!

wouldn't it be easier to just use the same jar the honey came in? You don't need a full gallon of shroom honey. just be sure nobody mistakes it for real honey. also, does the psilo sink to the bottom? would you have to stir it to get an even amount?

The average drunk driver does it something like 85 times before getting caught.

Now I don't advocate drunk driving, it's stupid, but it's not like this guy knew it was like a 50/50 chance he'd get caught. Plus if he was drunk he probably wasn't worried about the shrooms anyway. So yeah he made a bad choice but lay off him.

My advice, Through lots of experience in being busted, Is "NEVER" get to pissed, Once you've had to many, Things tend not to be as secret anymore.I've been raided 3 times in the last 8 years. Suppose doesn't help when you have 6-3 metre tall fuckers tied down in the backyard. So don't get to pissed, To loud or make trouble and you'll be fine. As for penalties, Move to oz and get slap on wrist, For first timers anyway. Ain't been to jail yet, But have a bad record when it comes to cultivating and posession of pot. And if you still get caught, Just plead guilty to personal use, Don't want to piss the judge off.

Shit! Hope everything turns ok. You can still enjoy the shroomies though, right? I mean they won't be able to detect them if they drug test you... just don't fucking screw up that hard again. It sucks that Mr. Alcohol lead you to this problem. Ermm... what else can we do but learn from our experiences, eh?

When I was 18 (oh wait.. I still 'am) I was driving around celebrating 4/20 and the purchase of a beautiful bong around town at night (1am I believe) on an uninsured and unregistered vehicle (no license either.. only learner's permit) with a friend. We were sorta thirsty after enjoying a few hits of Maryjane so I decided to pull over the local high school and buy myself a drink from the soda machine. Hmm.... we ended up hitting the bong in the car too. Then we decided to drive around a little more to look for a chill spot to rest...... AAAAAH! Right when I was pulling out of the school a po-po suddenly appears from a cross-street and starts following us (only car driving around so late at night) I was fucking paranoid that I didn't completely stop for a stop sign so before I know it I start seeing flashing lights behind me. Ack! Being all stoned and paranoid I didn't stop for about few hundred feet. But my consciousness finally cought up and I pulled over. lol idiot me.

Oh.. well... the cop comes to my window and asks for my keys (he already took a nice wiff of the odor and a good view of my red eyes). At that time I already knew I was screwed big time so the paranoia left my system and I was pretty cool. I was nice to the policeman and told him ALL THE TRUTH. He asked me if I had weed.... I said sure and told my friend to hand over the nice old man the stash and the bong.
I have a good memory so I will write down our conversation instead of explaining it:

Po-po: Who?s marijuana?
Stoner: Mine sir.
Po-po: But your friend had it are you sure?
Stoner: Yes sir I take responsibility, the stuff is mine.
Po-po: Good friend. How much did you get this for?
Stoner: Umm.... 40$ bucks.. That?s two grams.
Po-po: Really? This looks like some good stuff for that price.
(Indeed it was.... nice plump nugs with light green foliage and red/orange hairs sticking out everywhere with a shitload of crystals)
Stoner: Heheh... I guess
Po-po: Well... I?m going to take this pipe too.. is it yours?
Stoner: yep
Po-po: Ok well?. You guys pulled out of a school at 1am in the morning.. we?d had theft in that school this past month so you guys looked really suspicious. You ran over a stop sign and didn?t stop on my request. I?m glad you did? this poor man is about to retire and doesn?t want any problems. Let me go check you up on my computer.

Po-po: It seems that you have a warrant for your arrest for not appearing in court. I should take you in but I?m going to give you a court date instead?. (he hands me the court ticket) I can arrest you and take your car too but that?s too much trouble so I?m just going to charge you for the possession. (starts jotting stuff on the ticket) What kind of insurance do you have?
Stoner: Errr?.. none.
Po-po: Damn! Oh well (he just scratches a line across the insurance section and asks me for my license)
Stoner: I have a permit.. but it?s at home.
Po-po: Ok. Park your car correctly I?m going to take you home. (my other friend is talking to the other cop and is taken to his house and only charged for curfew violation (underage))


Well? he takes me home and asks me to show him my permit. I give him some wrinkled (with pizza stains or something) learner?s permit. He stares at me and nods. He told me to stop with all the bullshit I?m doing because I could have gone to jail.. had my car impounded?. And my license take away till age 25. Oh and to have a licenses adult pick up the car the next morning where I parked it.

Cough?.. lucky me I guess. Mommie wasn?t home that time so she didn?t find out. Only sister was home and she kept her mouth shut. I went to court for my other warrant (it was for not being at school at a certain time?. I was chilling at Mobil munching away when a cop decided to harass us poor kids) but didn?t go to court for this shit. To make a long story (woops already is) short I ended up going to jail for 24 hour (mommie didn?t want to pay $500 bail?. I told her it was just for marijuana possession) and was taken to court. The judge dropped the $300 fine and suspended my license for 1 year (yup by that time I finally got it). That?s it. I have 1 misdemeanor on my record and 2 past warrants. Lol?. I think I learned my lesson.

When i first got my licencse i was pulled over with 3 other people in my car (violation of the 3 month thing) with some opium under the passenger seat, me and my friend were high and the 2 in the backseat were drunk and one had a warrent out on her. luckily i thought the opium was back at a friends house, i wouda me wigging out about that. Any way the Mr PoPo asked for licence and Registartion, and i gave it to him, in the end he said to "Quit my Crabgrassing" and got away with out a warning even (i was swerving a little, partly becasue the car was jank and party becase i was high. I've been pulled over about 7 times for speeding and chirping tires but still never got a ticket, i got a warning by the indiana state police, woulda got off clean but i couldn't find my registration. Does anyone know how long warnings stay on your record in indiana

Ok, ive got a question... Im 17, so im still a minor, live in CO, and have the following record: harassment, assault(which got dropped down to misorderly conduct), and a pending felony theft of 1000 dollars from a store (which we got a good lawyer and should be dropped down to a misdemeaner and then get some probation and my record is cleared at 18)... with that record, if i was to get caught slangin weed or growing shrooms, what kind of edeucated consequences you think i will get? ----And one more thing, sentencing is all different based on if your an adult or minor, like fighting for example, if your over 18 then you can be sued and all that BS... but ive got a question, if you do something when youre 17, like beat up a kid or get possesion, but the court date is after youve turned 18, what happens? you are an adult at the date of sentencing, but minor when it happened... ive heard people say they go for minor and adult... what have you all heard?----

dont trip dawg i have already been through the system and back home. like u said bout getting fucked at 17 and cort date aint untill you 18 its all good. because your charge is when you were a minor and possible put on a front stating that it was stupid and now that your 18 there have been alot of changes in you....... bullshit your way out, thaz what i did but on the flipside i had to quit smoking chronic. but thats cool though , uknow cauz i rather be home than to serve another 364 mutha fuckin bullshit azz tiim again. !!!alternative!!! living my life solo with the help of shrooms an liqour... my advise do what your told by the judge or your P.O. Damn, some of you guys have had run ins with some very lenient cops. I have no such faith.

I have been searched and breathalized and they were PISSED they couldn't bust me on anything. Like they just had to bust someone that night to feel good. I got in huge trouble (and so did my friends), but the cops had nothing on us! They just said our eyes "looked funny," and the "knew we were drunk," when the breath test showed 0.00 on all three of us. They still wouldn't let me drive me friends home and called their parents (this is back in high school). When they pulled up the my truck was stopped at 7-11 and my friends and I were eating Twinkies.

Hell, I had a cop come into the bedroom at a party while I was having sex because he felt he needed to investigate all the rooms. Again, I wasn't doing anything illegal.

I'm sure if I was caught with a one forgotten mushroom in the bottom of my pocket I would be hauled in like I was a major threat to society.

you made a lot of mistakes, these were bad choices. But you already know that, and you got lucky.

I would say that this is one more reason why drug laws are not doing us any good. With the exception of the DUI, nothing you did (possession/paraphenalia) should be illegal.

Just as a general tip, never bring more then the amount of drugs you plan to consume.. if you were planning to consume 1/4 an Ounce well DAMN

Anyways, secondly whenever and I do mean WHENEVER Im driving around with drugs, I hide them very well, my sits kinda have holes in them, not very big but you can make it wide enough to fit a bag in, shove it all the way in the back, and cops will never find it, cause when yer done putting it in it jumps back to being a whole the size of a penny...

Yeah, that is so weird being busted for being *near* a daycare centre??? Is it the same with schools, churches etc?

There are laws here in Aus that make street prostitution illegal if someone tries to solicit near a school, hospital, church, private residence or somewhere like that; but I don't think they enforce it too enthusiastically from what I can see.....

btw canooka, I have to agree - you'd NEVER be sentenced to such a ridiculous amount of time for what is a possession offence in this country either......
.....I think a 'life' sentence for major crime here is only about 15-18 years, out in 8 or so for good behaviour :-( ....not that this is necessarily adequate for a serious crime, but for god's sake 20+ yrs for drug possession is insane.....

I got 2 tickets in 2 months... one for smoking on the CTA platform. This is a law, and there are signs all around, but it never gets enforced unless it's the subway... these are open air elevated train stops, nobody is going to be subjected to smoke from your cigarette. The cop just stopped me because he thought I was underage. Unfortunately you can't just pay the fine, you have to go to an "administrative hearing" where there's a judge and a prosecutor. Then before you go in front of the judge you go into this side office with the prosecutor and they look up your ticket and tell you that you have 3 options: plead guilty & pay $xx depending on offense (50 bux for smoking + 10 court fees) , plead guilty & pay $5 and do 1 day community service picking up trash on the side of the road, or plead innocent and [in very intimidating voice] FACE UP TO $500 in fines and court fees if found guilty. Everyone before me pled guilty and payed the fine. But I was bored, so I pled innocent. So I go before the judge and there's no cop there. What he wrote on my ticket is his sworn testimony and he doesn't have to appear. So the ticket says "suspect was smoking a cigarette on the platform" and I claimed that I hadn't lit the cigarette yet [lied in a court of law, so sue me, I was pissed that everyone else just took the fine without a fight] and the judge looked at me, looked at the prosecutor and decided that I was lying. Well no shit, I can't even talk to the cop and ask him any questions, all she does is read his sentence on the ticket and decide from that. So now I'm freaking out, is she gunna charge me the $500 max fine? Well she just gave me the same $50 + $10 court fees. Lucky me. I could appeal to the circuit court but the paperwork was 5 pages thick and seemed like more of a hassle than it was worth, I could just work a day and make the money back instead of taking another day off and having the judge believe the cop instead of me again and probably pay alot more in court fees.
My other ticket is public urination. I got caught taking a piss inbetween two houses, the cop must have had some eagle eyes to see me peeing at 1am in a rainstorm as he drove down the street. But he jumped out and caught me mid stream, I didn't even get to finish! Luckily he didn't take me in for underage drinking, he asked me if I had been drinking and I said no. That is going to be $85 dollars and another half day of work missed. I swear there is no way to get out of tickets like these. Parking tickets you can mail in an appeal w/ pictures and usually just make up something good to get off-- for ex. on my street cleaning ticket I just said that all the signs were torn down-- just those temporary ones they tie around trees, sent in a letter w/ picture and won [who tore down the signs? not me, probably some kids or something....]. So what did I learn? That cops are assholes who want to give you tickets for bullshit. I hate cops and will not help them out in any way. 1) the smoke wasnt bothering anyone, blowing away on the open air station. 2) peeing on the ground in a rainstorm... it's getting washed off right? Seriously, nobody could see me so it's not like someone would be offended by my oppressively large wang. Dogs can piss wherever they want, but people cant, that's bullshit.
