I think it matter a lot what gas you fill your tank with. My dad once put diesel in his petrol car. Its not a good idea. TM should be renamed to BS, IMO.

I think some people have benefited from TM. It may not be good to discount something in total because it's got some flaws.

Any practice that has you sitting down and relaxing will have some perceived benefits, but as an actual spiritual path its bogus. The benefits IMO are superficial at best.

The problem with TM is that you are charged money for that which is free.

Indeed. You don't even get given good methods either.

I guess we can agree to disagree again. Relaxing or becoming relaxed is more pertinent and urgent to where humanity is at right now than becomming one with the ultimate void. It's an important first step on any spiritual path IMO. Just ask Oprah. You're a bit of an elitist aren't you. Of course we all are to one extent or another so don't come raging back dear friend.

So are fly fishermen, traditional archers, and nearly all acid freaks....I am an elitist for sure. Without that core of self importance I would never have set foot on the path I chose. I am thankful to have had it as it has made my life much more interesting.

But you can sit and relax in the comfort of your own home without having to get ripped off. There are many many free to download meditation methods that are far far superior to anything TM are offering. So why bother?

Yes, i consider Buddhist methods to be far superior to anything TM can offer, period. If that makes me elitist, then so be it.

TM origionally woke a lot of people in this country at least  up to the idea of meditation who would most likely not have gotten it at the time. They did charge but I wasn't addressing that. They could have just passed the hat like good Christians or Buddhists but the result is the same.

I'm glad you admit your faults though.:heart:

Who said i considered it a fault? IMO its just a correct cognition.

Anyways, TM had its day in the sun, and its usefulness at a time where nothing much else was available, i will admit that much.

I was teasing bro. I know you're enlightened.

And that's all I was saying about TM. I'm not a fan but I had some friends in the 70s who benefited from it. It's where I first heard about meditation most likely.

Remember in Blade Runner where there were still Hari Krishna's around? TM is the system that won't go away.

TM is a system that wont go away as long as there are gullible people who buy into it.
