Looking at the stars

Does anyone think that one of the most truly spiritual experiences is to lie on the grass and stare at the stars? Looking at the moon, and thinking "That is an entire planet - a REAL planet" is one of the most profound things I can think of. I think it's amazing that we live in such a time, when we are all collectively staring skywards, and looking for a friendly face among the stars.

I don't mean to be picky but the Moon is not a planet, it's actually a moon....lol. yea but I totally agree man, this summer I will enjoy the stars and hopefully I can go camping again. The stars outside the city are AMAZING. oh and by the way, looking at saturn and Jupiter through a telescope is really awe inspiring. it's almost hard to believe that there are actually real masses of matter out there orbiting the sun..

A thing that really tickles my brain is scanning my view from one side of the earth to the other so that i get a complete mental picture of my suroundings and trying to hold that image as long as i can while i keep looking. They sky looks especially spectacular when its filled with clouds and a full moon, which is right now. Go look.

what I think is extraordinarily mindf-ing is that there are 1 billion possible earths in our 'galaxy' let alone the universe, combining this with new information that the possiblity of life forming on earth is actually quite high ie. 1:3, there is definitely life up there people... im not sure what form it might take, but assuming that it is living in an earth-like environment, I am sure there would be some interesting parallels.
I love looking up at the stars, they are amazing, and it is unfortunate that I wont be able to see what is up there (or maybe I will ;] ) due to our technological inadequacies and the general selfishness of the human race.... Im sure we'll destroy ourselves and earth before we can take control of our destinies.... If only the world would stop breeding, third world debt be wiped, all countries brought up to equal devlopment, species conservation, habitat protection, and the environment stabilised and then we might have a hope... but theres too many dumb greedy guts out there.
Ive always thought that if mankind lived an extra 100 years longer then maybe the general majority would start showing some respect for the world we lived in, rather then our little silly confused society that money and power has created...

I think it is especially awe inspiring because look at the age we live in, with technology and pollution and all that crap, but yet for inner peace we just look to the stars and feel home again, we understand why were here, to attain that beauty down here on earth too, a beauty that is unfortunately almost lost, but can still be saved, what we really need is a spiritual revelution.

Yes, for me is one of the most beautiful thing is to look at a starry night, that’s one of the reasons I moved to the country, I also got me a telescope and I am in owe every time I look thru it. Has any one notice how different the night sky looks under the influence of shrooms, for me becomes like a geodesic dome quite amazing!

I find myself looking at the stars (when there are any) almost every night. Especially after going out, I just have to 'unload' and watch the sky. It's not like I get any spectacular thoughts when watching the moon and the stars, but just a feeling of inner peace, like someone said before. I started doing this quite often after my first dose of shrooms. Psychedelics really did open the doors of perception for me.

This is my favorite thing to do, always was and always will be. Unfortunatly I hardly get to do this anymore what with my particular job and such. But I figures when Im done with this I will be able to appreciate the stars so much more than I have ever been able to. I'll be able to look upon them with the eyes of a child, fresh and new. I long for that day and it will come.

I'm going to move out into the country just so I can see more stars. Where I live there is so much light pollution and whatnot, I am lucky to see 50-100 stars. When you can see thousands of stars clearly, that is a breathtaking sight indeed.

There's nothing like a meteor Shower. Like the Perseids in August. I once saw a purple metoer it was one of the biggest all night. i guessed it must have been due to the chemical mineral content. Comments? I was straight aside from a little rum and love.

I can imagine... I live right next to washington dc so there's a lot of light pollution.. but I can go west about 40-50 miles and see thousands of stars, its breathtaking. Our window into the Universe.

The prison state has recently robbed me of my unsulied view of the infinite black, when the Texas State Prison Board decided that the Rio Grande Valley required a minimum security facility. Eighteem months later they decided to upgrade to the maximum variety and added a whole other facitlity (which doubled the amount of lighit in the night sky [I live only six miles away and it dominates the southern sky]) but they didn't stop at that ladies and gentlemen (oh, hell no). Now the Hidalgo County has come to the conclusion after some high inteligence debation that the new County Jail should go right next door (a round of aplause my friends; thier here all night).
....and the cogs of the prison-state turn...
*wispers* ...can you hear them creak?
