Ethiopian Dining
    #6668833 -

So I see that the Ethiopian Village Cafe has opened across the street from school.

I have never even seen an ethiopian restaurant.

Anyone have any bright ideas on what I should be ordering when I stop in?

Ethiopian food is good, you should try it!
There's no utensils, you eat with your hands using pieces of spongy bread called injera that is made from a grain called teff that's maybe fermented so the bread has kind of a sour taste and a lot of bubbles in it. You should wash your hands before you eat although sometimes they come around with hot towels to wash before and after the meal.

A really good dish is "doro wat" which is like a savory chicken stew. I've also had really yummy vegetarian stuff like pumpkin stew, lentil salad that tastes like it has mustard seeds in it, greens, potatoes and beets. Most of the stuff is either a stew or like a salad type thing and it is all served in little piles on top of the injera bread as well.
Raw beef is sometimes found on the menu so if you don't want that just look out for it.

For drinks they make amazing coffee and also a fermented honey alcoholic wine thing that is good but really sweet.

Most ethiopian places will have a combo platter in meat or veggetarian versions and in my experience they give you a lot of food.
