I don't know what the term for this is, but I hope to eventually learn to hunt and then only eat meat that I've hunted or fished myself. That way, I'm not emotionally separated from the meat I'm eating. I'll be able to ensure that it's killed quickly and humanely. My biggest problem is with the way livestock are brought up. I don't consider it wrong to kill for food, as that's nature's way. It's just that it doesn't seem right to imprison an animal its whole life in order to be slaughtered some day. I'd feel much less guilty about eating a deer that I had killed myself which lived its whole life out in the wild.

Vegetarian for two years now. I have to say that it is a myth that vegetarians don't get enough protein, or that meat is even the best source of protein. Compare the protein levels of common vegetables, along with nuts, pasta, and staple vegetarian foods like soy, and you'll see that lack of protein in a vegetarian diet is a myth. Plus the benefits form being vegetarian are numerous and eternal. My new yar's resolution is to go completely vegan. Wish me luck.
