Failed my driving test..

So, ive been putting off getting my drivers liscense for 5 years now. I've been content with riding my bike and commuting via. transit until recently - but im 21 and its come the time i get my drivers liscense.

I went through a driver education program and when my Learners was up, i booked my Novice driving test immediately.

Took it today - wow is it strict. Im a confident and competant driver i think, as does my dad and my instructor. However, i go with the flow of traffic (ie. speed), and use my mirrors rather than shoulder checking in many situations. I had an immediate fail after a dangerous action with a pedestrian.

Now let me explain - he was going to jaywalk across the road, and i was turning left - he decided to walk into my path. So i could stop in moving traffic, or breeze past - infront of him.

Fair enough, i was wrong, and could use some practice - However this bitch tore me a new asshole. 360 check, shoulder check, speeding, approaching a playground zone too fast, uncertain steering, and i blue the parallel park, also signalling when pulling away from a curb.

Im one of those fellows that has trouble with blind authority telling him what to do, and muttered a few swears under my breath when i knew i blew it. I was nervous as shit, admittedly.. but i ended up arguing with her about my driving techniques in the end.

Bitches like her totally get off on "having the ball in their court" - and i know she loved failing me. Driving restrictions were not this strict 10 years ago..

Whatever, im just venting. I cant take the test again for 2 weeks, conveniently just when the prices go up. *pulls hair*

FUCK ICBC.

Describe the corners he was crossing in relation to you. If he was going with the light where you were turning left onto, then he has the right of way.

Next time ill pass anyways. Now i know the root, and the P.C. bullshit ill have to go through.

There was little things like "pull over to the side of the road" so i do it, then "pull over to the side of the road and park" -.. i just wasn't paying that-close-of-attention, and pulled over the second time and was waiting for her to give me the go ahead. She said "is that all" - and then i clued in that she wanted me to park and pull the emergency.

Its been awhile since i've had to strictly do as im told. I gotta admit, its nerve raking sitting with someone you've never met, and probably wouldn't like in day-to-day life - and get critic'ed.

Anyways, trepanib - i was turning left from a oneway, i had a turning lane and was waiting in the red. He was on the opposite corner and was walking up to jay walk on the flashing hand across the oneway - but when he got the walk signal crossing my turning lane, walked into the street - as i already pulled away from the stop line and was in the motion to cross.

It totally was his right of way - he had the walk signal - he just pulled a quick unexpected move on me, and i didnt accomodate right. I realize ill just need more practice driving in rush hour.

Sucks failing and have to pay for it all over again, but on the + side, i now know the test route and what not. I know what to expect and also have 4 more driving lessons which will help me cover the things i did wrong. $35 bucks to take a chance was worth it in the long run - now i know i can pass next time, after a little more practice.

Yeah you know he had right away. I've found it's the pedestrians that cause more problems then other cars. They can come out of nowhere. I remember a kid running out in the middle of the street once as I was driving, if I had been turning the stereo knob or been talking it's possible I've wouldn't have seen him before he ran out.

Speaking of pedestrians causing problems..

Im really cocky on my bike and skateboard. I was nearly hit by a car turning left onto a street i was crossing yesterday. I had a to bail and run it out while my deck bounced off her wheel. There was already a pedestrian in the street we were crossing (in a school zone, on a sidewalk) but this lady in a fast moving one day was going to try and zip infront of the pedestrian, right as i was zipping past the pedestrian.

I stopped, grabbed my deck - looked the driver in her eyes, fingered her, and took off on my merry way.

Look whose talkin' now. (oh well!)

Brainiac did you type that wrong on purpose or comedic effect? I read it with an Asian voice, and we all know how Asian people drive...not to mention women...

it's not a big deal, I didn't pass my first time either...

Make sure you really stop at the stop signs, even if there aren't any cars miles around, lol!

Little things like that are where driving school really helps!

Apperently the tester i had is a crazy bitch anyways. Hopefully i dont get her on round two. Im going to try and reschedule at an earlier less busy time of day.

It was totally his right of way (at least the way I was taught, EVERY pedestrian has the right of way, even if he's jay-walking--just because he's in a much more vulnerable situation), but you knew that.

It's okay, I failed my first time too (jumped a curb, automatic fail). It was kinda funny.

I agree that the driving test is too easy as well. I passed the state test (a state with huge cities and complex roadways), and now that I moved to a county with a population of more than 8 people per square mile, I really feel that I'm not qualified to drive at ALL. But I do do better than a lot of the people I see on the road, and I'm super safe and aware...just not that skilled.
