Great read about boredom and spirituality - spoke to me, hopefully it speaks to you

It's a little paradoxical though. I read this and became very enthralled, and thus not bored. Funny stuff.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

While I see what this piece is saying. Boredom is not the correct term. Dissatisfaction, discontent, or Ennui might be more correct terms.

Given the state of human language, boredom might just mean dissatisfaction, discontent and Ennui all at the same time. They are just possible synonyms and boredom is the word that happened to resonate with me and make sense.

But if I had to pick a word from your list it would be dissatisfaction.

I think boredom is correct. If you're bored then you aren't paying attention. Buddhism is attention, attention, attention.

Well first off that was not the point made in the origional post and second who cares what the Buddhists say? They are not the final word on anything.

In the origional article they say the Buddha was bored. I really don't think so. He was dissatisfied with his life not bored with it. Watch Sidhartha sometime and you may get what I'm saying.

"it is a spiritual discipline that happens to stress attention"

ALL spiritual disciplines stress attention.
