Excellent reading on the subject...

Dr. MelanieDreher, reefer researcher-Despite political pressure to have it otherwise, Dr. Dreher's research reveals that pot-smoking moms can have smart, healthy babies.

Pregnancy and Pot-Cannabis can be a special friend to pregnant women in times of need

Really did you read all those articles that fast? I'm not a woman so I will never have to make the choice, but you have your opinion and I have mine.

I don't think small amounts of Cannabis vapped should cause any real concern.

I read them that fast,,.
I still don't think they count as proof,, things could have been missed and we know little about how they progressed.

I don't think it would be a problem, i just think considering what your dealing with it's not a risk you want to take.

9 months is not that long..

A doctor of a friend told her that pot smoking was fine during pregnancy, she has 2-3 kids now and they all seem to be fine  :penguinmonkey:

Thing is that we dont know anythign for sure. Maybe it doesnt harm the baby, maybe it does but to such a small degree its not noticeable, maybe it only harms 1 out of 100 babies.
No matter what, fact is nobody can say %100, so why risk the health of your child??

there really isn't much evidence at all that pot harms a fetus. the official line is that it does.. but that's because pot's evil evil evil and illegal. truth is there just hasn't been much research at all done on the subject.. but what little has been done hasn't found any link between smoking pot and any harm to a baby.
obviously, some people who smoke will have problems.. miscarriages and whatnot.. but some people who do are super extra especially careful have those problems anyway. correlation doesn't prove causation.

at the time, i was thinking "hey its fine" and now im sapposed to be the mother of a 5 year old child, yet im not.

its a fucked up feeling. i hate it. not a day goes by that i don't think about what has happened. its certainly not a good feeling, either; the fact that i murdered my child because i was too lazy to take care of myself. yeah its fucking great.

That's ridiculous. You did not kill your child. You probably would've had a miscarriage anyway. Stop beating yourself up over something that more than likely wasn't your fault.

When I was pregnant, I had such horrible nausea for awhile that I couldn't eat. I wasn't gaining any weight, which means neither was my baby. My doctor was worried and ordered me to start eating more, but didn't give me any help with the nausea. The only way I could garner any sort of appetite was to smoke a little pot. I'm pleased to inform all of you that my daughter came out perfectly healthy and is now almost 5 years old and progressing at a perfectly normal rate.

Pregnancy
Little is known about the effects of cannabis on the unborn child. However, the use of cannabis during pregnancy is not recommended. If cannabis is used during pregnancy the baby may be born smaller and lighter than other babies. Low birth weight can be associated with infections and breathing problems.

Just that's enough to create abit of doubt in my mind, remembering we only need the smallest bit.
There's alot of info around it if you look about, so something dodgy could be going on...

I read them... the only one even remotely credible is Dr. Melanie Dreher but that
is weakened when you discover that her doctorate is in anthropology, her studies
primarily regarded the cultures and her conclusions state that there are no real
discernible differences in the post-natal development of children between mothers
that use and those that don't, of course since no medical studies were done we
can only say that the kids were not retarded

Dr. Kate... just a fucking midwife with no credibility since she is trying to pass
herself off as a doctor

Proof or no proof, I think it's logical to try to avoid all pharmacologically active drugs during pregnancy, unless absolutely necessary.

Cannabinoids have estrogenic effects, so they interfere with hormonal balance, and by the look of them most will cross the placental barrier.

Look at the actual study.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=pubmed&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=AbstractPlus&list_uids=8121737&query_hl=6&itool=pubmed_docsum

They compared 24 smokers with non-smokers. They assessed neonatal outcomes at 1 month post-birth. Good, marijuana hasn't harmed kids up to one month after birth....

what about the next 70 years or so?

I can understand a poor, uneducated western mother using MJ during pregnancy as they are most a likely habitual smoker and don't know any better. However, it is general knowledge that many chemicals ingested by the mother are passed to the unborn child via the placenta,so if someone knew that there was a risk involved in smoking cigs and drinking, why would they risk it with weed?

I'm no pro-life fucking christian or anything but I think any woman that risks the health of their child by giving in to there selfish, unnecessary wants is a little stupid.

If you have an academic account, go type in weed/pregnancy at www.sciencedirect.com and read some papers. These are real science papers, not the tabloid-y articles presented here.
