weed and pregnancy

anyone here smoke weed while pregnant or conceiving or for the first few weeks of a pregnancy? did it cause any birth deffects/complications, mental imbalances, health probglems to either mother or child?

My friends girlfriend did and she had a healthy little lad two years ago, she smoked for the full 9 months.
Personally i'm against it, it's too much of a lottery.

Always got me how she was happy to smoke when she was pregnant, but as soon as he was born she wouldn't smoke anywhere near him.
I know it's not damaging his lungs while she's carrying but that's besides the point.
She couldn't put the effort in/put herself through stopping for 9 months,
but then it's much easier to not smoke around him once he's born.
Irritates me, i think it's kinda selfish.

My friends wife did that because she would throw up constantly throughout the day if she didn't smoke to help with the nausuea. Her doctor said the baby would be fine and it came out healthy with no complications or defects.

My friend smoked when she had morning sickness, and she smoked the last few days of her pregnancy and maybe even during labor. She might have puffed from time to time through the middle phases also, but not heavily.

I would probably limit smoking while prego... I know plenty of mothers who smoked during prego and the kids seem fine... But if it were my baby, I don't think I would want the mother smoking...

My kid is going to be a champ, I will bust out the bong when he turns 18 if he hasn't already found it, I don't my kid experimenting with THC when still in mommy!

My mum smoked weed during my pregnancy and my brothers, both of us turned out with some mild asthma, and a daily cannabis smoking habbit for years. Both of those things COULD be coincidental, but I'm just putting the facts down.

Beyond the ocasional need for an inhaler growing up, I really don't think either of us were too negativly effected by it. I know for a fact that we both grew up happy and turned into fairly intelligent and reasonable people.

I don't pass any judgement on people who choose to smoke during a pregnancy, of course your taking a chance, as you are with anything you put in your body during that course of time when you and your child basically share one body. But I think that being a good parent cant be entirly based let alone judged on something they choose to use medicinally throughout their pregnancy.

In the end the healthy thing to remember is that different things work for different people.

Oh and I also think that it would be very disrespectful to say that to someone who's fed clothed sheltered and loved the child they have despite some chancey choices they made previous in life. (not jumping on the parents rock band wagon, im just sayin some still deserve alot of respect)

Selfish mothers like the ones described here obviously don't give a shit about their kids and really fuck me off. There are innumerable science papers written on the negative effects on the child of smoking weed during pregnancy. Mothers who smoke or drink during pregnancy have no will power/ patience and are useless.

:yesnod:,, though i didn't put it so bluntly.. There's more evidence on tobacco smoking than weed but most people here smoke joints so it's the same...

And i don't think they're useless just incredibly selfish/weak,, and the double standards are ridiculous.

I know people that have personally been told by more liberal doctors that smoking herb while pregnant is fine. They said to do to help those that have appitite issues and nausea. A few other things too. (I know some people said there have been studies on it. I am not for it or against it. But the credibility of some studies is seriously lacking.)

Thesewere regular western MDs too. Thats what they said, not me.
