primordia (edit, learned something new)
    #6533337 - 02/05/07 01:21 PM (17 years, 2 months ago)

So afoaf has had a few casings in the martha for 10.5 days. At about 7 days, he started noticing primordia, and possibly some cobweb on 2 of the 3 casings. All the casings have twice as much primordia every morning when he wakes up. The strain is chitwan, and it is pretty much non-rhizomorphic. He's also never had pinning take longer than a week. Martha stays between 75.2 and 75.8, and has 90%rH 24/7.

So afoafs got 2 Q's...

1. He knows he needs to be patient, but how long do you guys usually see pinning after the first noticable primordia?

2. Can cobweb mold take a myc networks fruiting ability for a whole casing even if its just in one spot?

Your conditions sound right on. I wouldn't worry about taking 10 days. You should have some pins any day now. A spot or two of cobweb won't take away your casings ability to fruit. You should try to increase FAE and break out a spray bottle of H202 to spray that cobweb with.

so its now comin up on 12days.. The amount of knots did not double again today. Now they've started to fuse together. The so called "cobweb" i dont think is cobweb. I did a bunch of searching and i think i may have a stroma type sub-strain. There is only slight overlay in a few areas, but these puffballs that were thought to be cobweb.. have a good mass to them. I tried picking one off with some sterilized tweezers and it seems to be connected to the myc and is completely milk white. After a few hours of being picked the spot it was turned yellow only on the edges it was picked from.

Sorry, i have no pics, but could anyone give me an opinion on these puffballs?

no... this is a casing, wbs spawned to dung/straw/verm/blood meal. Chitwan strain, may be stroma type sub-strain.

Or i may just need to shut-up and be patient

he means does the mycelium look like that on your casing because his mycelium is not at all rhizo

a little like the back right corner of that casing... How that white kinda rises up... but there are primordia everywhere on the csg layer, the majority of them seem to be drawn to the few little pieces of pine bark in Jungle growth pro growers mix...

???

i got that picture from this tread...

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6270980#6270980

...he said that it was mold.

this bright white, thick mold, that doesn't turn green seems to be going around.

well, if that was in fact some sort of white mold... Why is there knotting all over his casing? and what kind of mold is this?

I had a previous casing that did the same thing, the white ended up covering the whole surface and i got nothing. But that casing never showed any knotting...

pls hlp happy trails

i dont know.  im asking the same thing in my thread...

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/6496369/an/0/page/0

...and no one seems to know.  there's so many kinds of mold that no one can really tell unless they have a microscope and what not.

edit:  AngelMarkings did mention White Plaster Mold (Scopulariopsis sp.) and White Flour Mold...i've been reading on both and it could really be either of them or even another kind...or maybe it was mycelium after all...
