Has any one here ever had a true NDE?
    #6490615 -

As in actual heart stoppage/brain death?

Could you describe what happened while you were dead?

As opposed to a false NDE?

I have seen beyond. There is no death, only transformation. I was everything and everything was me. I could fly at the speed of my thought, but I was not in action. I understood that life is about being in action - doing what you want, because you have nothing to lose - you'll always be you, always able to do what you want (which is what you're doing right now).

It was terrifyingly incredible, far beyond anything that could be conveyed with words. I find great peace knowing that no matter what happens to me, I can always 'die' and be unlimited and free again. In other words, you got nothing to lose - and when you know that, life becomes unlimited. If people knew what death was like they'd probably kill themselves. And then realize they wanted to be alive again to help people understand that death is not to be feared, because that collective knowledge alone could change everything.

The death 'penalty' humors me.

What I mean by a 'true' NDE is being clinicaly dead for a while... Thats a pretty interesting story, I've had something very similar to that on a high dose of DXM (yes DXM)

Were you considered clinicaly dead when that happened?

I've had what cilosyb spoke about as well. It's the trip in my signature.

Not clinically dead, that I know of, but I have wondered about the correlations between what I have experienced and a true NDE.

That's actualy why I'm asking, I've had a few trips on different drugs, even different classes of drugs (DXM vs LSD) That brought me to the exact same place... Completley beyond words, and extremley similar to what I've read about NDE's...

"Clinically dead" is whatever that means to someone else, and I'm not sure what they would define that as. I was by myself, several days back in the mountains and certainly no clinically certified beings were present to diagnose my condition, though I have no doubt whatsoever about what I experienced.

I was most certainly not restrained to my body. I was seeing it from all perspectives at once. I was everything. No dualism - no boundaries between me, my surroundings, the universe, and God. I had a choice about whether I wanted to be alive again. It came to me in through understanding that I could spontaneously 'die' if I truly desired it...everything is your choice.

I don't if this qualifies as a near death experience to some people, but I'd call it one. It actually happened about three times:

When I was younger I had very severe asthma, on top of that I lived in house of chain smokers. My sister, who had bronchitis or something at the time, who continued to chain smoke despite her condition had taken my asthma machine to my grandparents house where she lived without me knowing it.(cant remember the name of the machine now) She had also spent all of my medicine. I had a phlegmy cough one night which grew into a very severe asthma attack. I got out of bed and couldn't find the machine which would open my lounges up again. I tried to wait it out, but my breathing became very restricted, so I woke my mom up. My asthma attack grew worse and I got to the point where I could hardly get a breath in or out. I began to slip in and out of consciousness as my mom massaged my chest and lungs, while her boyfriend recovered my machine from my grandparents house, then went on a search for the solutions that went in the machine (it was around 3-4am.) It probably took him an hour and a half to get everything. During that time I felt that I was going to die, but I couldn't cry or really react because my breathing was so restricted, and I was very relaxed.. I wasn't scared. Ultimately the boyfriend brought the machine and the solutions back and after a few doses I was breathing again, though still wheezy.

In hindsight my stupid mom should have taken me to the hospital and had me put on an oxygen tank, but she didn't want the ER bill. I almost died because of it. A couple of other times this happened when I was with my father, he promptly took me to the ER where they put me on an oxygen tank. An oxygen buzz was the first buzz I ever experienced. And it was niiiice. Especially since I really needed it.

No strange mystical insights though, just a peaceful acceptance of the situation. I really had no choice though, to have been excited and tense could've finished me off. I don't think I would be so acceptant of the situation now.

I watched a show about that stuff not to long ago. I came to the conclusion that our bodies are merley physical, and protection for the energy stored in the mind. we eat/sleep/laugh etc. to keep these fragile bodies alive, but the kenetic/energy cannot be destroyed, so once the boddie is dead mutalated or gone, the kenetic energy will still be existent.

During a NDE, as in Death itself.. the pineal gland releases massive amounts of DMT .

Take me to your leader

DMT is indeed produced endogenously, but the pineal gland has nothing whatsoever to do with its production.

I dunno, Rick Strassman seems to think it does.

Strassman contributed far too much to mispropaganda about DMT, in my opinion.  Most of his theories (including the one about DMT production after 49 days from conception contributing to the soul entering the fetus) are mere speculation and not founded by good science.

As far as I'm aware, there has been no research showing that the pineal gland is involved at all in the production of DMT--mainly the gland is responsible for the production of melatonin.  Other regions of the brain certainly are involved in releasing DMT, but attributing its release to the pineal gland is false as far as I'm concerned.

I'm reading Strassman's book right now, and he admits in the introduction that all of that is complete speculation, although informed-speculation.  He's not just winging it.  But he's trying to connect dots that may not be there.  His motivation for thinking the pineal gland is the production center for endogenous DMT is because of ideas such as the crown chakra, third eye, and the pineal being the seat of the soul as described by Descartes (who also was speculating).

He's basically trying to scientifically validate something he chose to believe because someone he respects said it was true.

I dunno about near death but a definant phase out that i ignored until now, I dont even blaze no more things seem to be unfolding but the choices I've made already had their effect.  I was on a large dose a cocktail if you well when my thinking lead me to the infinities of how long a second really is to a really revealing wake up call. I ignored it got back into trouble for the sense of god knows what and now I feel like I have "asshole" written all over my forhead.

Never had a conscious NDE, does waking up in an ambulance still wasted thinking your dieing count?

The closest thing to brain death that I ever came across was by sitting for long periods of time and then suddenly standing up after hours of sitting, you get a black out head high that I can compare to inhaling nitrous oxide. It's both a scary and blissful feeling, kind of like free falling or something.

I also enjoy this feeling. I call it a "head rush" and do it over the summer by jumping headfirst into my pool and letting myself slowly flip under the water.

It is possible to release DMT without going into REM sleep, from what I have experienced at least. I can recall this one time when my dad and I visited my orthodontist from mexico and left in the same afternoon, so there was a long line going back into the U.S boarder. I'm guessing the second hour I waited in the car I became very sleepy and decided to rest. With my eyes closed I would wake up and fall back to sleep with all the honking and people yelling. To my knowledge, a vehicle right next to me floored the engine and startled me to the point that I was dreaming consciously. The first thing I can remember was having double vision and everything was bright in color, I also experienced the head high black out feeling. It was wicked

That rushing dizzy feeling is created by blood quickly rushing out of the brain.
